21/6/3 isn't THAT far from 20/5/5.
Melo was unarguably the best player on his team, and he played in a deep conference.

Re: ROY 2004: Carmelo Anthony or Lebron James?
Lebron :
20.9 ppg
5.5 rpg
5.9 apg
1.7 spg
0.7 bpg
Carmelo :
20.7 ppg (-0.2 points)
6.0 rpg (+0.5 rebs)
2.7 apg (-3.2 assists)
1.2 spg (-0.3 steals)
0.5 bpg (-0.2 blocks)
3.2 assists is very huge difference since an assist leads to 2 or 3 points, that means Lebron was accountable for extra up to 9.6 points.....
Plus the 0.2 ppg he averaged more... 9.6 + 0.2 = 9.8 points...
Lebron didnt just had better stats, but this means he was also accountable for extra up to 9.8 points to his team..... thats a major difference....
20.9 points + 5.9 assists (which is 11.8 - 17.7 points) = Means Lebron was accountable for an average total of 32.7 ppg to 38.6 ppg.
Carmelos 20.7 + 2.7 assists (5.4 - 8.1 points) = Means Carmelo was accountable for an average total of 26.1 ppg to 28.8 ppg.
Hope this clears some things up................................

LeBron's assists are so meaningful yet he doesn't make his teammates better.

Re: ROY 2004: Carmelo Anthony or Lebron James?
I've always said Melo. That team making the playoffs, even though it was fairly talented, was surprising to me. How well Lebron's team played wasn't really surprising at all.

I'm sorry sir, but those are not Carmelo Anthony's 2004 Statistics. Honestly, I am not even quite sure where all those numbers came from.

His stats are actually:
CARMELO ANTHONY - 2004:
21.0 PPG (+0.2)
3.8 APG (-2.1)
6.1 RPG (+0.6)
1.2 SPG (-0.4)
0.5 BPG (-0.2)
So at least everyone gets both the facts straight...

Compared to Lebron, Carmelo averaged 3.2 less assists (this is huge), 0.2 less points, 0.3 less steals, 0.2 less blocks... the only thing he had more of was +0.5 more rebounds.

Clears nothing! Both deserved, Carmelo was huge in the lasts games of that season, 7 wins in 10 games, averaging 25 ppg. Bringing Denver back to the playoffs after almost 10 years.
At least co-ROYs.

First time in my life ive heard such a statement against assists...... If anything, assists only make your teammates better by making their job much easier...
Imagine if you right now at this given moment were put in the starting lineup next to Lebron.... you can only shoot, so you sit tight in a corner... you give the ball to Lebron and you know 100% of the time when you are open you WILL get the ball for an entirely open jumpshot.... I can guarantee you will hit at least one of those baskets no matter how bad you are...
If you didnt had Lebron... now you must create the shot yourself.... and dont lie to me that you could do that against NBA opponents? :) Your game automatically therefore takes a MAJOR boost when Lebron is on the floor....
What somebody like Nash, Deron, Kidd, Rondo, CP3 and Lebron do is exploit their teammates offensive talents/skills to its full potential by constantly working to create the best offensive situation for you.... they let you play to the best of your ability.

Re: ROY 2004: Carmelo Anthony or Lebron James?
Melo was robbed. The only reason LeBron won is because he was hyped so much and ESPN writers and media personality (the voters) have always loved him and hated Melo.

His stats are actually:
CARMELO ANTHONY - 2004:
21.0 PPG (+0.2)
3.8 APG (-2.1)
6.1 RPG (+0.6)
1.2 SPG (-0.4)
0.5 BPG (-0.2)
So at least everyone gets both the facts straight...
Going by that...
LeBRON JAMES - 2004:
20.9 PPG
5.9 AST
5.5 RPG
1.6 SPG
0.7 BPG
CARMELO ANTHONY - 2004:
21.0 PPG (+0.2)
3.8 APG (-2.1)
6.1 RPG (+0.6)
1.2 SPG (-0.4)
0.5 BPG (-0.2)
If you add them STATS up...
LeBron = 32.3
Carmelo = 31.7
So LeBron wins by 0.6 stat points (not including FG%, FT%, 3P%)...

How does that clear nothing?
What you just compared is a guy who was accountable for 32-39 points compared to a guy who was accountable for 26-28 points (with less steals & blocks).
Thats not different than saying Kobes 26 ppg last season was better than Jordans 37 ppg season simply because Kobes team was better that season......
Are you in this case telling me that because Kobe/Carmelo played WORSE than Jordan/Lebron those seasons were better... just because their teams had better records?
