    Default Keepin old school alive

and off the respirator , but first wanna say I ran out the house and raced
around the block top speed twice after paul george went down last nite
that was tough . . my son experienced som'n similar bout a year ago

    . . . . best wishes young man

    PEAK this

it's only natural for young fans to view the game differently today with all
    the research tools and youtube film that's available . . . . . I mean
who couldn't come up with 15 players better than this guy

    32/11/20

    22/9/20
    20/9/20
    33/6/17
    38/8/16
    46/9/10
    31/9/19
    40/9/10
    39/5/17
    33/12/19
    34/10/18
    35/10/11
    25/14/20
    29/11/19
    20/5/20/5s
    24/8/24/6s
    26/6/20/4s
    22/5/20/3 in 31min. 85 finals vs BOS

    that's just 84-89

    .

was reminded of the 87 sonics that faced the lakers in the wcf that year

87 sonics 39-43 knocked off 55-27 DAL and 42-40 HOU hakeem had 49/25
96 sonics 64-18 had payton shremp hersey kemp perkins made the finals

how the hell does a team with ellis chambers and x-man avg 23 each

    win only 39 games . . . . . . . . ain't that some ish

    .

    how great was the doctor

the best way to describe it is him knockin off the 60-24 nuggets with
david thompson dan issel bobby jones and larry brown as coach
in the 76 aba final with john williamson as next best player

    who???!!! . . . . . . . . . . exactly!!!

Denver was so good the all star game was between the
nuggets and the league all stars and they frikkin won
beat a team with doc , ice , artis and james silas

with very little help doc singlehandedly dismantled the nuggets avg
    37/14/6 in finals . . . . 40/13/6 first 4 games and 31/19/5/5/4 in
game 6 to close the series forcing comm. debuschere to opine

"some players are the Franchise . . . . Dr. J is the League"

    .

    ABA integration

1976 rick barry led nba in all star voting with 135k
1977 david thompson nearly tripled that with 309k

from there in order: doc ice ice doc doc doc moses
the aba reign didn't stop until 1985 with magic
who was first to hit 1m votes the next year

it wasn't until 1986 that an aba player wasn't top 3
as for mvp aba players snatched 3 of the first 4
and from 79-83 garnered 4 of 5 league mvps

    .

Impact on the Game vs Impact on Winning

most people mistakenly believe them to be mutually collusive because
big men possess inherent advantages that have a greater impact otg
than perimeter players . . . they're considered way more valuable
and easier to build around but what I could never figure out is

    1) how is it that a perimeter player accomplishing the same or more than
great big men is considered less impressive when task is far more difficult

    2) FMVP awards since 1978: wings 25 bigs 11 . . and it's not only that

I get the 15 straight 50 win seasons and the ridiculous win percentages but
where are the repeats 3-peats n quad finals like magic bird mj and kobe
kareem and shaq had magic and kobe , , and if you like lockout titles
. . . . you got hakeem's dream set when they locked out michael

other than that . . . . where they at

    .

    ok . . one more

is 2nd team all-nba considered elite?

if so i'd like to introduce a new concept to the title status madness

    ELITE RINGS

as opposed to the revolutionary extraordinarily inconsistent and
often contradictory Rings as the Man way of scaling the weight
of ch'ships it's time to kick the super-stacked cornbread max
and the horry titles to the curb and come anew . . no more
wilted titles pau wows kawhi/parker/duncan tricycle titles

was you elite when you titled up

    like , was shaq elite in 2006 . . . I didn't think so , , thot alonzo had a
much greater impact in the finals yet shaq was 1st team all nba over
duncan b wallace and yao ming while dirk was 1stT power forward

was doc elite in 1983 avg 21/7/4 and 20/8/5/3b finals - 1stT all nba
uhh yea , , , you can stop giving moses all the credit for the title

    was kobe elite in 2000 avg 22/6/5 -- wcf 20/5/6 -- playoffs 21/4/4
    2ndT all nba - 1stT all defense = top 10 in L and top 5 defender
ASG starter - led team to greatest postseason comeback in LH

delivered big time in the finals on a busted ankle without shaq
and never relinquished his #2 scoring status despite the
decrease in effectiveness because of the injury

    was he elite?

    yea

    .

kinda takes you right into the newest great debate

    duncan vs kobe

obv., great arguments can be made for either player and normally
comes down to a matter of preference . . . however I did come
across a debate from a while back where points were being
made that I had never seen heard or discussed before

    Offensive anchor vs Defensive anchor

scoring and facilitating vs rotating rim protection

while Duncan definitely has a greater impact defensively than kobe
it's not enough to offset kobe's impact offensively seeing as how
duncan has zero impact on most shots taken during the game

    what's his impact against the 3-ball - mid-range - fast break layups
and pull ups . . . coming off screens - jump shots and FT attempts
look at the teams the spurs lose to . . . all time prolific perimeter
players kobe 4x dirk nash twice durant and judas shuttlesworth

perimeter assassins rendor defensive anchors null and void

contrarily there is no way 2-3 blocks and a couple of rotation alters can
account for the impact kobe has offensively as scorer and facilitator

    *handle the rock
    *control tempo
    *initiate offense
    *feed shaq and
    *find shooters
    *create own shots
    *close out 4th qtrs.
    *defend opp. top player

kobe is so good offensively , , , he forces people to put

pau and bynum in the same sentence as shaq

    .

in closing , , let me just say that with all the research that everyone does
    now you're not changing anyone's mind on anything . . . . i'd bet bonus
to allowance that I was the last when Loki crushed my magic over mj
argument about a decade or so ago .. . what I didn't know was that

it would lead to his status dropping 15 points on the goat meter

    now ain't that some ish
