    Default Is Parkour worth it?

I've seen YouTube video's of mind blowing parkour runs. I've seen Hollywood movies where parkour has been written into the script to be showcased. This is parkour being featured at its highest level of execution.

However, I've also seen 100 times as many videos of pasty unathletic kids eat epic shit as they attempt to duplicate the movies and jump off the roofs of buildings onto 2" staircase railings. It looks so ****ing painful to **** up in parkour. Does it really seem worth it to try and be like the guys in the movies?

Hahaha no I should have been more clear I'm asking rhetorically if it's worth it... I agree it does not seem worth it

    White People call it parkour.

Black People call it running from the cops.

    Not impressed.

I'd rather do that Jackie Chan shit than the stupid shit posted earlier. There's more practical applications to it as well.

Like Tom said, Jackie Chan was doing parkour shit before it was an internet sensation. Dude is a legend.

That french film District 13 has some really nice parkour scenes from one of the main characters. It was remade for the US and came out a year ago in the name of Brick Houses.

definition of parkour has really changed. it's not about doing useless flips and shit, it's about getting from one point to another as quickly as possible.

Yes, if you have the passion it definitely is. I don't do parkour exactly, but I do a lot of similar things. It is one of the greatest rushes you can feel. One time I climbed down this spiraling walkway, like 20 feet up in the air with only concrete below me. It raises your focus and concentration, forces you to be very aware and mindful of your surroundings. And when you accomplish the task you set out to accomplish, it is rewarding. Not to mention good exercise, for both strength and cardio.

When I am out there, I feel like it is the most important thing in the world. It feels fulfilling and meaningful, like it is the most meaningful thing I could possibly do in life. I get a similar feeling from writing a song, or a story. If you feel that passion, there is no question in your mind that it is worth it.

As far as risks. Well, you should only do things you are comfortable with, and confident that they are within your skill range. Obviously, sometimes you misjudge your skill level. Luckily for me I haven't been injured yet. But some days, I have way less confidence. On those days, I will just climb a tree or something small. But other days, you will do some extreme things that seem kind of insane in retrospect- like the story in my first paragraph.
