AI played teams that gave up 84ppg with teams shooting 40% against them.

Its not the same league.

No, the problem is that AI was not half the shooter that Irving is. If you make these excuses for AI's scoring efficiency, might as well do the same for Kobe. I only see these excuses for other players.

Irving is the better scorer, that's what it comes down to.

Kyrie is 6’3 195 pounds. No excuses for him not to be able to carry a scrub team considering Westbrook is the same size and carried a shitty Thunder team while averaging a triple double

Jason Terry had no problem carrying the Mavs to beat Lebron in 2011.

You do realize Allen Iverson is the second greatest playoff scorer in the history of basketball, right?

kyrie isn't a 30 ppg scorer, he barely gets to the ft line

Guys, why are you all arguing how good AI is?

The thread doesn't ask how good AI is vs Kyrie.

It asks about winning, and AI is a loser because he never won a finals.

Doesn't mean he isn't a great player, but if you never were on a team that won...then you are a loser

you split bob cousy, and you have a version of a PG who can play with 2 bigs, and another version of a pg who can make the pass in the professional 3, over several defenders

If anyone looks at the makeup of the sixers they all defended and rebounded. He went and got the best re bounder in the NBA, Mutombo. This idea he couldnt co exist with a Tmac, Pierce is laughable when they NEVER mention how efficient AI was in Denver where he scored and shot a FG% these stat tools would give a passing grade too. And to top it off he did so next to Carmelo Anthony of all people.

Yeah, this was always a bullshit narrative pushed by people who didn't actually watch AI back then or were arguing in bad faith.

Hell, Billy King and Larry Brown never bought into that crap. After passing on Pierce in 1998, they spent the next 3-5 years trying to get a second scorer to put with AI.

Iverson definitely had a winner's mindset, but not a winner's game at the highest stage. Kyrie required less volume on shots and is vastly more efficient.

Also, circumstances matters and it's not always fair.

He is not. Everyone knows what to expect from AI. He's rated properly. No one is mentioning him along side the true greats.

Some people simply push their agendas or simply don't know the game is a team sport.
In reality, there are lot of NBA players whom can be considered Winners but w/o actually winning one, and then there are others just lucky enough to be part of a championship team. Nope I'm not referring to AI and Kyrie though, both are actually winners.

well to be consistent it's either three things. Iverson shouldn't be called a loser, kyrie is a loser like iverson but was just lucky to play on the cavs, or kyrie isnt a poor man's iverson but is actually better.

I tend to agree with the first one. He absolutely helped his teams win and helped a lot. Did wat Larry wanted him to do. Plenty of 2nd round appearances and close to 50 wins besides 01 and only had an all star teammate for 2 years(ik it was the East but Tmac and Carter did far less and I dont consider them losing players either). It just wasnt in the coach friendly style of someone like Jason Kidd.

I really have to go down to volume scorers like monta and rudy when it comes to losers and I'm not even completely sure about them. Rudy wasnt a negative with memphis, monta was pretty good in dallas with dirk and role guys.
