After the Tyson trade the Mavs should go hard for Jeremy Lin
Lin would be the perfect fit now that Tyson's gone. The Mavs pick is only top 7 protected, Lin could secure the pick for the Mavs.
Let's go Cuban sign him!

If we are in rebuilding mode...he's perfect. Too bad we've traded away our picks, but what the hell...let's rebuild.
And lets rebuild around Parsons...a guy that might not even be here next year.

Should the Mavs just tank since their pick is only top 7 protected, assuming they get nobody else?

If we sign nobody of note? Then I don't think we'd have a choice. We'd be a bottom 7 team anyway likely.

I'd prefer the rebuild to be around a player that isn't so turnover prone, and can defend on the perimeter.
Especially after getting Anderson in the draft and getting Dwight Powell last year.

Depends on what happens in free agency. If we strike out....best thing would be to tank hard so we keep our pick.

since 2012, ive been a 'keep dirk and be competitive till he retires' guy, but geez.. if we dont land DJ and a solid guard then it might be time...

Re: After the Tyson trade the Mavs should go hard for Jeremy Lin
I'm afraid that the Mavs won't land anyone in free agency at all. They should blow it up for sure. What is their pick situation? How many picks have they traded away? Cuban and Donnie need a fresh approach. They used to be forward thinking but they have become very stale. They have a great coach but with no team it's not important.

I hope they don't do something dumb again like make a cartoon like they did for Dwight Howard. That was embarrassing.
