Default Will the Rockets backcourt take the most shots in history?

I’m typing this from the passenger seat of a truck I’m having to ride in for the foreseeable future with a co worker. Despite me having ESPN radio playing loud enough to suggest I don’t want to talk he is insisting on telling me stories about him and his wife in Ohio in the 90s.

Instead I’m gonna ignore him and try to figure this out without using google.

Just something to take my mind off the situation like many of us used to do to avoid orgasms when we first started having sex. My go to was naming every NBA MVP in reverse order and then every NBA champion in order. Didn’t take too long but who had excellent dick control as a rookie? Maybe you did....I didn’t. Anyway...

Backcourts who took 40 shots combined?

Starting from the beginning we have Bob Cousy and Bill Sharman who I’m sure were up there. Jerry west and Gail Goodrich have to be close. Jerry was probably taking 25 shots a game in the very early 70s when wilt stopped shooting and Gail was scoring in the mid-20s himself. Without a three point line he had to have been taking 18 or 20 shots.

    That’s 45ish a game.

Nate Archibald and whoever his sg was? Nate scores 34 a game with no 3s? If his partner was taking 12 shots a game they might get to 40.

    Tim Hardaway and Mitch?

AI and whoever depending on the year?

Johnny Moore didn’t take that many shots playing with George Gervin.

If Kelly Tripuka played at the 2 while Isiah was running wild in the early 80s they might get to 40.

Smush shoot enough for Kobe’s 27 to add up to 40?

Who am I forgetting? Jerry Stackhouse played with Alan Houston but he wasn’t gunning until he was by himself.

Jordan had no point who took the 12ish shots needed I don’t think.

What back court in history took more shots than Westbrook and Harden are about to?

I will find the answer when I get to a real computer but I suspect one of you will get to it first.

Shit Durant played some shooting guard early in his career. He and Russell might be up there.

Without doubt. Whatever the record is, it's about to be shattered.

I'm not sure they will take the most shots in history, but they will commit the most turnovers in history.

Oh that goes without saying even though having each other should keep them both from their usual record-setting rates.

I did some skimming on basketball reference and the highest I could find was not close to who I would think:

Earl Monroe and Kevin Loughery of the 1969 Bullets. 23 and 20.5 fga respectively.

Maybe there's another out there I missed through the process of elimination I did, I'll admit I skimmed instead of my normal scouring of the numbers.
