Default now that Peyton Manning has broken another record yet again

where does he rank all time among QBs?

I'd say he's the 2nd GOAT QB after Tom Brady. Joe Montana is 3rd considering he did play with Jerry Rice, arguably the GOAT footballer/definitively GOAT receiver.

If he manages to win another ring before he retires, he'll be the GOAT.

Why is Brady the GOAT? Brady's teams had way better defenses than any of Manning's Colts teams. Shit, the year Manning got his SB win the Colts had statistically the worst run defense in the league.

Manning will end his career placing 1st in almost every single QB stat possible.

No doubt he's great, but he's more like a Lebron James. Unmatched stats but when he faced tough competition, he wasn't the best. I can't put him at the top, just like I can't put Tom Brady at the top.
My vote is for Montana. 4 for 4 is too good just like 6 for 6 is.

Fair or unfair, his uneven playoff performances and having only 1 ring will hurt him in the all time rankings. If he nets one more ring before he leaves, it will help him out greatly. Of course, there will be those who say that the one Super Bowl he DID get was against a Rex Grossman-led team, so it's probably important to the overall body of work to get one more, but the whole discussion is so convoluted. Regardless, he has had a career that 99 pct of QB's who have ever played the game could only dream of having.

Took 2 franchises to the Super Bowl. Took 3 different coaches to the Super Bowl. It's really just Peyton Manning vs the other team for much of his career. That's why his playoff/postseason record isn't that great.

Brady was a slightly above system QB when he won his 3 Super Bowl. It was Belichick, their defense and spying more than anything.
Peyton has played with a lot of great players, more so than Brady.

Faulk, James, Addai, Harrison, Wayne, Clark, Moreno, Thomas, etc.

And now he's playing with the most stacked team in the league, on both sides of the ball

I love Peyton but the dude has gotten a lot of help

He's top 3 all-time QB but I want him to retire already so the Colts can run the AFC.

He needs to have a great Super Bowl. If the Broncos win 10-9 in the Super Bowl (lol highly unlikely), he won't get those same monkeys off his back. He needs a dramatic game winning drive or a blowout win. He was good against the Bears, but that was hardly vintage Manning.

Montana is a poor man's John Elway minus the arm. Don't be so easily fooled by his team winning. Montana's modern day comparison would be a better Alex Smith.

Don't be ridiculous. He did have a great team around him but he had heroic moments and had super bowl winning drives. Alex Smith is a game manager and even the 49ers saw that.

I like Elway, a lot more than Montana but them 2 are not close.

this. Individual stats is alot more reliable in football because each play only plays half the game. QBs are only responsible for offense.

Not sure if serious So arguably the greatest QB ever was a game manager in your eyes?

This is a different era, QBs put up 300 yards with ease because of the p*ssification of the league and them not allowing defenses to do anything to stop the passing offenses. 49ers had a west coast offense not a run on 1st down, run on 2nd and hope for a short 3rd down pickup. Game manager he was not.
