Default Is Dion Waiters getting underrated?

First two years in the league:

    Rookie Year:
    15/3/2 on 41/31/74; 29 MPG

    Sophmore Year:
    16/3/3 on 43/36/69; 30 MPG

All this while establishing himself as a pretty good defender.

And then you have his third season where LeBron showed up, his whole time in Cleveland he was involved in trade rumors, shit like that, and played pretty poorly until he was shipped out and forced into the OKC situation where he had little time to adapt but eventually settled in, playing pretty good the final month of the year.

I just think next year for OKC now that Brooks is gone they'll probably run some sort of offense, and Waiters can improve on the efficiency from his 2nd year while being like the 4th option for OKC. Could be a strong candidate for comeback player of the year.

He plays good defense so I don't see why he won't be named the starting SG unless they are just looking for the great floor spacing and would start Morrow.

Come on dude, as someone who loves watching OKC play you cannot say that Dion Waiters is anything but a pile of garbage and a detriment to any team he is on.

Dude is a straight chucker, and sure, he can make some shots and help win you a game but more times than not he's going to take shots from the people who should be taking them.

    Dion? Is that you??

Must be. No one else in the world thinks he is any good.

He is closer to out of the league than he is to being underrated.

Dion Waiters is absolute trash. Now OKC is stuck with him.

Did you watch his first two years in Cleveland, particularly the 2nd half of his sophmore year?

Looked like he was gonna be a potential all star within the next 2 years, but then his 3rd year in Cleveland he was just one of LeBron's trade chips, hard to stay focused on your game like that.

Dion has potential obviously. Very skilled and talented, just needs to mature a bit.

I watched this season and saw him chucking the ball all day without any hesitation with open teammates all around him. Dude is all about himself.

Also great to see which fans know nothing about who is actually good on the defensive side of the ball, aside from the well known names.

He has a place in this league as a perimeter defender above everything else. "Out of the league" FOH

What's the point of having a decent defensive player if he's a cancer and taking shots away from the people who should actually be taking them though? Dude doesn't know when to stop shooting.

    This part may be true.

I definitely didn't like how he threw the Cavs under the bus after being traded.

I also didn't like his alleged comments about being better than Kyrie...

That said, it's good for a player to have confidence, and there is nothing wrong with believing you're the best...

You don't think a coach can't correct that? Seems rather easy. Run the offense or sit on the bench.

Guys like Kerr have no problem coaching like that, whereas Scott Brooks, Mike Brown, his coaches in the past, probably were just telling him "be aggressive" and the usual shit.

In fairness, the way that whole situation went down reeked of unprofessionalism from Cleveland's side. Cleveland hit a rough stretch in the season, LeBron throws a fit, sits out for like 2 weeks on vacation in Miami, and then Cleveland gave into LeBron's demands and Waiters got traded when the original plan before LeBron even showed up was to just develop and build around the young core of Kyrie/Dion/Wiggins/Thompson

Maybe the new coach can do something about it, Brooks clearly couldn't figure it out.

Lol you're talking about the same guy who couldn't figure out that it wasn't wise to play Kendrick Perkins vs the small ball Heat in the 2012 Finals while it took Steve Kerr like 2 games to bench Andrew Bogut, a far better center vs a team that wasn't even as small ball oriented.
