Well, Lue is unproven, so scrub might be too far, but bringing in someone like House or Cassell would be the same....Alvin on the flip side, is easily replaced by a Del Negro (who had double the playoff appearances as HC in less than half the time).

Also couldn't handle being in the spotlight

People with FO knowledge, dont head coaches generally pick their assistant coaches? or is usually a mixture of both?

because if its the former, i kind of see this as a grooming for lue to be the future head coach, if things go sour with blatt.

They made the team better? Or improvements by Jordan on the defensive end made the team better?

We're all entitled to our opinion obviously. I think Gentry is a solid coach, and while Lue is unproven he's been under the tenure of Doc Rivers several years.

I don't know a ton about Lue as a coach, but I guess it is always a good sign when you get both your No. 1 and 2 option on the same staff. The head coaching position came down to Blatt and Lue. Blatt's the head coach and Lue is his assistant. I'll take it.

Also, Phil Jackson has been pretty open in his belief that Lue is a good young coach.

All said, I'm very happy with the coaching situation currently. Blatt was the guy I wanted. Now, getting a guy on the staff who is young and may be able to relate well with young guys like Kyrie and Dion could be a really nice bonus.

I wasn't expecting him to get hired. I think he took the job because if Blatt doesn't work out, he'll automatically be the back-up head coach.

According to Tony Rizzo, his contract will make him the highest paid assistant coach in the NBA.

    Rizzo:

Sources tell me 4th year #Cavs team option on Tyronn Lue's Associate Head Coach contract reportedly worth $2 million bucks.
Sources tell me Lue's contract w/#Cavs is 3 years w/team option for 4th year. $1.25mill, $1.5mill, $1.75m & option. Highest paid NBA asst.
Once again, Dan Gilbert is sparing no expense.
