Re: ESPN's top 10 SG's next season.
Waiters gets in and Beal doesn't??
It's hard to rank Kobe/Rose right now as we don't know how they'll perform.

If that is the real ESPN list, and not just made up by the OP, then it is seriously ****ed. Kobe and DeRozan should both be top 5.
And how did Butler get the 4th spot ? He's a shooting guard who can't shoot. I realize that he's a good defender, but top 4 ?

Kobe will be the best shooting guard this season.

The article is too long for a screenshot. It has explanations for why each player is ranked where they are.

I'm a Jimmy Buckets fan...but #4 over Klay Thompson? The fuck? It's not even a situation where you can argue with defense...Klay isn't Butler defensively, but he's terrific in his own right..while being light years ahead offensively. It's really not even close but he's ****ing 4 spots below?

I personally would've still included Kobe, but I can understand him not being included, as long as there is a statement addressing that it is a result of him playing about 10(?) games over the last year and a bit.
Similar thing with ranking PGs and Rose.

I absolutely agree with your point and lets put Kobe and D-Rose aside, the list that OP posted still looks ridiculous.

Agreed, I think some journalists surely do things like this to get a reaction (and more hits on their webpage). While this may be beneficial (for them) short-term it can hurt their image in the long-run.

Re: ESPN's top 10 SG's next season.
Saw this trash yesterday. Forget Kobe for a second. The fact that DeRozan and Joe Johnson aren't even regarded as Top 15 SG's should make anyone disregard this stats projection altogether.
This was the explanation for DeRozan not making the cut:
DeRozan is probably underrated at this point, but it's no mystery as to why: He had a fine 2013-14 season with 5.4 WARP, but he had been well under replacement level in each of his four campaigns. One more solid season, and DeRozan will be a top-10 fixture.
Why does he need one more season ? Why is that the rule ? Does Tyreke Evans, Dion Waiters, and Victor Oladipo have better WARP or advanced stats than DeRozan's first 4 years ? Probably Evans does, but not the others.
