“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”

Something makes me believe that when F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote those famous words in his masterpiece, The Great Gatsby, he was somehow foreshadowing the summer Cleveland sports fans would experience 89 years later. After all, life is truly beginning again for the entire Cavaliers franchise heading into this new season.

Not much remains from a 2013-14 season in which Cavs fans, like in so many seasons prior, were overloaded with those feelings of utter agony and despair that had become all too familiar in recent years. Dan Gilbert has experienced a complete and total revitalization of his franchise just beneath his feet. He has a new GM, a new head coach, a new staff and a new-look squad after one of the most eventful and exciting off-seasons in a generation. The only familiar faces the owner will see are those of veteran Anderson Varejao and his young teammates Kyrie Irving, Dion Waiters, Tristan Thompson and Matthew Dellavedova. Quite the monumental change indeed....
