1. Move Memphis and Minnesota to the Western Conference.
Just have the Western Conference have 13 teams instead of 15 and East have 17 instead of 15.
This would better the competition in both sides by making the Race for 8th even more compelling in the West. In the East, you have more teams that would be above .500 in the playoffs.
Memphis would in the Southwest, Minnesota would be in the Central Division.
2. Swap Phoenix and Portland's Division.
Portland should be in the same division as the other California Teams. This also betters travel for both teams since they meet their division rivals more than any other teams in the league.
3. Make the 1st Round a Best-of-Five.
The First Round is too long, the playoff would be shortened by a week if this were to happen.

This would better the competition in both sides by making the Race for 8th even more compelling in the West. In the East, you have more teams that would be above .500 in the playoffs. You realize teams talent changes right? Are you gonna switch teams around every time there is an imbalance?

Phoenix is closer to LA then Portland. All this does is make it easier for the NoCal teams to travel. Either way 2 of the california teams will travel more.
