How can one be the greatest if he is not even the best player in the league in his absolute prime?

ah, who is then? did it take having lebron slow down a bit after demolishing the league for 2 straight years, on the road to his 3rd championship, to have you reconsider his spot as the best player in the league?

Are we gonna sit here and make believe Bron hasn't been completely eclipsed and overshadowed in his prime by a rail thin kid who calls himself the servant?

Even winning a championship won't change the fact that Durant is clearly the better player, just like many people considered Bron better than Kobe even when the latter made 3 straight finals, winning the last 2 (sound familiar?). Maybe if the servant abandons his team and stacks the deck he can get in on the ring action too.

How is he clearly a better player? I mean, Durant was losing the MVP race a few weeks ago to a dude with 4 of them already.

"clearly better"

lebron does everything better, which includes shooting in the post (not counting when he drives, which he gets fouled nearly every single time). all kd has on lebron is height, length and long range shooting. yes kd can drain it from any single spot on the field. lebron does everything else better, does that mean that kd cannot improve? well it would take some muscle and hard work for him to be able to take it to the rack better than lebron but the point is that kd is not "clearly better" by any means.

and before you say that his 3pt shooting elevates him over lebron lets not forget that kobe is also a better 3pt shooter than jordan. to say lebron is not the best right now is ridiculous but you will be more convinced when the playoffs come and he hits the switch.

I wouldn't say KD is clearly better but stats give the edge to KD. Mind you, LeBron should be in his absolute prime while KD is still a kid in basketball terms.

LeBron should be killing all his MVP opponents but he's not.

It is entirely possible that we've seen the best of LeBron, you know.

Anyways, this is an MJ thread, how dare you drag it down to LeBron's level

He's 25 years old, which is 2 years removed from 27, the age most players absolutely peak. This whole idea of Durant still growing or being a child is so damn retarded at this point. Shit made sense 2 years ago, not now. Hop off it.

Oh, to the topic, I still think Lebron is the best player on the planet currently. Just because Durant is having a better season does not change that fact. Like others have said, Lebron is a better all around player than Durant and its natural ability. It SEEMS like Lebron can get 60 every game even though we know why he can't. Durant is a better scorer/shooter and thats it. Probably better in the clutch but Lebron is no slouch.

LeBron is built similar to Karl Malone while a soft breeze could knock KD over, so I would hope he'd be better than him in the post. But the servant has better handles, better mid range, better long range, better rebounder. He's also made up major ground on Bron as a playmaker/passer and has been brilliant in that regard with Westbrook missing major time this season. And they are comparable defensively, with Bron aka Mr. 1-5 being grossly overrated in this area.

When he finally stops 'coasting' right? Then we'll see

Durant definitely has better handles...
