What if Pippen retired in '93 instead of Jordan?
Saw this mentioned in another thread, and I've never actually heard of this scenario discussed before, but it's one I find interesting none the less. So let's say it's Pippen who retires after the '93 season, and comes back when Jordan did in '95, how do you see those two seasons playing out?

8 in a row. Jordan was in his absolute prime.

What if Pippen is the one who quits for 18 months, replace him with a journeyman no name at SF with a Pete Myers skill set on offense and defense?
Does MJ still get the Bulls to within one win from the ECF like Pippen did?

He'd be right back where he started. First round exits every year without Pip.

Same thing that happened when he was out in '97-'98. Clutch ass Kukoc takes his spot.

this. I dont know why people think pippen is irreplaceable. Pippens are a dime a dozen while no one can replace jordan. The closest is kobe thus 6/6 and 5/7. Even bran cant replace jordan.

Definitely wouldn't go that far. Pip was a pretty unique player, but then again so was Kukoc for that matter (6'10" combo forward with guard skills). But yeah, the Bulls had options. They were a pretty deep squad and for all the beef between the players/coach and front office, Krause did usually come through for them in terms of team needs.

This has nothing to do with 1998.
We're talking prime Pippen quitting for 18mos (94 and 95 like MJ did)) with a Pete Myers type skill set taking over at SF for those seasons.
Bulls don't get to the Finals in 1994 considering they just went to 3 straight.
They might when Pip comes back in late 95'

Why? Bulls had the rights to Kukoc for years before he actually came over stateside to play when Jordan retired. Why do idiots act like the Bulls kept the same exact squad from '93 and just added Myers? They added guys like Toni, Kerr, Wennington, Longley who would go past the first round without Jordan, be a .500 team the next season and then win 72, 69, 62 (Pippen out half the season) games and another 3-peat when Jordan came back.
Kukoc would've gotten to the Bulls at the same exact time, along with those other additions and the Bulls would've made a move to get a quality back up SF for Toni who would've been a starter. Bulls probably suffer a bit defensively, but offensively they don't skip a beat. ECF, possibly the finals.

Kukoc > Pete Myers type skill set
This thread is about a Myers type player taking over the starting SF role like Myers did for MJ.
No chance that Chicago gets to the 94' Finals with an exhausted MJ picking up the slack because there's no Pippen.

Holy shit you're a retard.
Again, what does Pete Myers have to do with the Bulls drafting Toni Kukoc in 1990? No matter what happened in real life or hypothetically, Toni Kukoc plays for the Bulls starting in '93-'94. If Pip wasn't there and Jordan was, as is the hypothetical here, then Toni Kukoc starts at small forward. The Bulls still add Kerr, Wennington, etc and most likely make a move to sure up the SF position.
The Bulls starting lineup would be:
C- Cartwright (Wennington)
PF- Grant
SF- Kukoc
SG- Jordan
PG- Armstrong
That's at least an ECF bid right there.
What are you not understanding here?
