Im more impress at old washed up Magic Johnson even tho his team was plagued by injuries and had a less talented team with full of scrub, he still manage to average more assist than Jordan who had one of the most stacked team of all time, a top 5 best player in Pippen and also the best perimeter defender, a top 5 PF Horace Grant, the best shooter John Paxson and the best bench in the league..

Magic avg over 12 apg that series while always being triple team by Pippen, Jordan and Grant, just show how great he was.. If we replace Mike with Magic in those bulls team, theres no doubt Magic will swept Jordan easily.. Mike would be shooting below 40% in the field with 3 apg at best being guarded by Pippen.. Jordan was just lucky he faced an old Magic Johnson with old scrub teammates..

but I can not understand how, despite doing all that, he manages to average 11.4 assists per game, being responsible for almost 60 of his teams points per game....


at the same time, Magic Johnson, who is the GOAT PG, only managed to average 1 more assist than MJ...

Its not that hard to understand.

And if you understand how amazing of a scorer he was, which you just said you do, then you should realize the GOAT scorer can attract multiple defenders and thus can get some nice assists by finding the open teammate left behind.

BTW...The NBA averaged 22.4 apg in 1967. The league avg. 24.7 apg in 1991.
