Well I'm assuming the game is played in a modern setting. Funny thing is if this were a real contest you had to put money on, Laker fans would be fools to put Kobe on the team. Youd have four guys trying to play as a team and Kobe trying to chuck to prove hes the alpha. He can get away with that on rosters where his team has a clear talent advantage like on his nba 'chip teams, but against another all-time great team you cant do that garbage. If you want to win you have to play as a high IQ team. If you have Magic, Kareem, and Shaq youre much better sticking Logo at 2 guard who will play smart team ball and space the floor.

Anyway, like I said I personally dont think the difference between who guards Kareem comoensates for Dirk being able to stretch out to the three point line. Hakeem may be better in a vaccuum but Dirk would go better with Duncan IMO. Also Stockton plays bigger than his size defensively. With him, MJ and Bran on the wings, perimeter defense is absolutely air tight. Kobe and Magic perimeter D? Barely better than an average nba team perimeter.

if russells celtic titles count as full for team comparisons ...then why dont they count as full for player comparisons

everyone ranks russells 11 slightly behind jordan...so they really count as 5 or 5.5 tops

    5.5 is half of 11

so the celtics 13 non modern nba titles really count as 6.5

    6.5 + 4 = 10.5

lakers have 10 modern day titles and 6 that get cut in half

    10 + 3 = 13

    13 > 10.5

I don't think that would be the case.. see Kobe in 08 Olympics. He may do that shit at the end of a close game, but in a surrounded by all stars situation he knows how to share. In a lose 3 straight fmvps and get ridiculed as a sidekick situation sure, envy might spark, but the two situations are not equivalent.

Dirk and Duncan would get the shit kicked out of them by KAJ/Shaq on the boards.. its just a massive size advantage. I actually think there would be a higher chance of a rift between the two LA centers though as both are used to catching the ball in very similar spots in similar roles as post scorers/passers and both are the jealous type.. so dirk/Duncan might have a significant chemistry advantage.

Q: And when Lebron comes over to double, who is spacing the floor for the kickout. Magic, Kareem, Shaq, or Wilt?

A: Doesnt matter cause Kobe's shooting anyway

Why do you assume people rank Russell and Jordan based on rings? Russell has 11. Jordan has 6. Everyone recognizes this.

Nobody has ever tried to say that Russell's 11 rings are worth 5.5. Retarded.

Stockton mad underrated on this board as usual. People saying where are you going to hide Stockton? Better question: who on that all time Lakers squad is going to stop Stockton?

1988 Lakers/Jazz playoff series, eventually won by the Lakers 4-3. Stockton averaged 19.3 pts and 16.4 assists per game, along with 4 steals. Who was guarding him? A 28 year old Magic Johnson.

16.4 assists with his second best target, after Malone, being Thurl Bailey. Imagine what he'd do with MJ, Lebron, and Duncan as targets in addition to Malone.

    Prime Stockton was a MONSTER.

Without even going too far back:

    Stockton/Kidd/Nash
    MJ/Drexler/Wade
    LeBron/Bird/Pippen
    Malone/Barkley/Dirk
    Duncan/Hakeem/Robinson

Beats anything the Lakers can put together

    you're an idiot

if people gave russells 11 rings the same weight as 11 rings had they been won in the 80's,90's,00's

then he'd be far and away the GOAT and it wouldnt even be close

people discount the rings from his era

thats the most widely accepted fact that any real ball fan should know by now. if you deny it then you must either be a celtic fan or believe russell IS far and away GOAT

if you have mike first and think russells 11 are full value.... then you must thing russell wasnt that great. he must have been a borderline guy compared to mike

    but...

the guy was a 5 time MVP
the guy was the best defensive player in nba history
the guy was arguably the best rebounder in nba history
the guy was arguably the best teammate in nba history
the guy was arguably the best leader in nba history

during the finals he averaged Russell - 11 titles (15ppg/25rpg/5bpg*/5apg/5spg* ) *allegedly

he coached AND played during 2 of his nba titles.

he was a great player... if a great player has a legit 11 rings as leader .. the guy is automatically the GOAT

unless ofcourse you discount the era, league at the time

    which most do

    cause its logical

    you f*cking idiot

It's pretty easy to nullify Magic at PG ... simply put LeBron (or even Pippen) there.

    PG - LeBron
    SG - Jordan
    SF - Bird
    PF - Duncan
    C - Hakeem

    2nd Unit

    C - Russell
    PF - Karl Malone
    SF - Pippen
    SG - DWade
    PG - Isiah or Stockton

I'd replace Malone with Dirk, but otherwise good roster. They'd beat LA IMO.
