Adrian Dantley on Sunday confirmed a New York Post report that he has been let go. His contract, expiring at the end of this month, won

    From Horny:

Q: What are your summer plans?

A: I'm not under contract, so with the lockout and everything I'm just in a 'wait and see' situation. Most of us will take off and relax for the next month or two, and I'll be able to spend some time with my family. We'll also be working closely with (Tyrone Corbin) to implement his system, whatever that will be, so it will still be a busy summer.
Interesting he's not even under contract and talking about possible changes to the system. Hopefully big changes in the defensive system at least.

Coaching staff still looking weak but at least they've beefed up their international scouting.

Former Jazz assistant coach Phil Johnson was honored Wednesday as man of the year by the Utah-Southern Idaho chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Johnson received the award during the 33rd annual Dinner of Champions, which was held at La Caille in Sandy.

Several current and former key Utah personnel attended the event, paying tribute to Johnson's work in support of MS.

They'll sign him and he probably knows it.

I'm sure he knows it but why not just take care of him and show him the respect he deserves?

Because then they'd have to pay him. I don't think they gave contracts to any of the coaching staff who were out of contract, it's not like he's a singular case.

He's working why shouldn't he be getting paid? They only have 3 coaches which is ridiculous when u hear about other teams staffs getting to know each other and preparing for the season if there is one.

Brian T. Smith: Nice to talk to Stampede coach/ex-Jazzman Randy Livingston. Read about him everyday when he dominated high school ball in New Orleans. Livingston said Stampede haven't had contact with Jazz since becoming Utah's D-League affiliate. Expects that to change once lockout ends. Twitter

Corbin has not operated with a full staff since taking over Feb. 10 as Utah's coach. That move followed the resignations of former Jazz head coach Jerry Sloan and longtime assistant Phil Johnson. Corbin was promoted after Sloan stepped down, while Hornacek switched from a part-time shooting consultant to a full-time assistant. No one has officially replaced Johnson, though, an Xs and Os guru that Sloan trusted and heavily relied upon.

Lowe resigned March 15 as North Carolina State's coach after five seasons. He previously coached the Minnesota Timberwolves and Vancouver/Memphis Grizzlies.

Lowe, 51, crossed paths with Corbin as an assistant in Minnesota, and played with ex-Jazzman Thurl Bailey on the Wolfpacks' 1983 team that won the NCAA men's basketball championship.

Utah initially waited to add a new full-time assistant due to the uncertainty surrounding the work stoppage. The labor situation is still fluid, the entire 2011-12 preseason was canceled Tuesday, and the first two weeks of regular-season games will be erased next Monday if league owners and players are unable to reach a new collective bargaining agreement.

Corbin was given the greenlight to move on a hire in early September, though, and he expressed excitement about adding a new assistant to his staff during a local radio interview Wednesday.

If the Lowe hire becomes official, Utah will have added two widely respected basketball names during the lockout. The Jazz hired Rich Sheubrooks on Sept. 12 as executive director of global and professional scouting.
Utah might also add a player development coach in the future.

They gave him the green light after everyone else had did their hiring!

Still might add add a player development coach.

Yep, smart hire. I think Corbin has had enough experience as an assistant to be able to run his own ship, but they lost what, 40-50 combined years of experience with Jerry and Phil leaving. Can't hurt getting some back on the sidelines, especially when the other known assistant Hornacek is still new.

Malone would be good for Favors, dunno about Kanter. At the very least he'd teach them something about having a work ethic.

Remains to be seen rather Ty is qualified or not. More guys fail as an NBA coach than succeed and he's got a tough job ahead of him in a rebuilding situation. He should get every opportunity for a franchise that isn't known for pulling the trigger to quick though. I think Horny will be the best of the bunch in time but obviously he too is unproven. Whatever Layden brings he certainly wasn't qualified to be lead assistant. Lowe should bring a lot of fresh ideas to the table. Hopefully on the defensive end especially.

I think Karl has plenty to teach anyone that wants learn from one of the greats as he did from A.D. his rookie year.
