So what Knicks starter is being asked to play just defense and focus only on rebounds?

Where are all these Rodman quotes coming from lately lol?

The Knicks are a laughing stock right now and definitely underachieving but I think some of the criticism on Phil in general, is spoken in haste. His body of work in NY is far to small to demand proper judgement yet.

He's nowhere close to having the rebound talent Rodman had. Plus avg. about 10mpg less than Dennis did.

With Acy, you have no idea what he's going to give you nightly. With Dennis you knew you would be getting 100% effort, at least double digit rebounds and great D.

    It's a respect thing.

    Players feared and respected MJ/Kobe.

They don't fear or respect Carmelo. Carmelo needs to learn to defer like LBJ cause like LBJ, his teammates don't respect/fear him either.

the offense was easier for rodman because he never had to shoot it - on offense, the bulls were always playing 4 on 5 with rodman.

"Everybody has an opportunity to touch the ball and shoot it. It seems like it goes back to Carmelo Anthony and then everything stops.
Under the triangle, the guy shooting the most has the most potential to slow the offense down, so they are the ones that must make the quickest decisions of everyone.

But Melo never learned to catch the ball and score quickly - because it's not something you can just decide to do.

To score quick many times per game as the #1 option, you need to have already developed the ability to make good decisions quickly - it's just not something you can pick up 2/3 of the way through your career.

I'll preface this by admitting I have only watched three Knicks games all year.

The vast majority of their stuff ended in isos. The triangle is supposed to optimize the space of the floor so that you can take the shortest and most unimpeded route to the basket. Carmelo is an ideal person to run this with just by looking at his skill profile (ie. great post up player). But when he comes up high near the three point line, the whole concept collapses in on itself because they don't have another reliable post up player, or reliable player period! Maybe Amare but lets not kid ourselves, the dude is done. Shumpert? It's not called the TRIPLE POST OFFENSE for fun folks. SO to begin with, they don't have the personnel to even run it. Maybe that's why they are frustrated.

Second, despite not having the personnel, these Knicks players are ****ing morons. If you could actually quantify their collective basketball IQ they'd definitely be in the special education class. Late cuts, cuts to the wrong spot often resulting in a trap by the other team, or half-cut/half-drift into a spot no one will notice I ****ed the play up (I call this the JR Smith special). It's horrifying to watch. Unfortunately for the Knicks and PJax, he's got himself a bunch of dudes who, on top of incapable of grasping and applying the triangle, are selfish beyond measure. It's a mess.

also I fear for Brett Brown's job if the Knicks keep losing. Knicks making it extremely hard to tank for that top pick
