Re: Kevin Durant can't palm a basketball
Perhaps he was referencing palming the ball reliably at any given moment during a game (like Michael Jordan or Julius Erving). Many can stuff their mitt and palm informally but cannot trust the security of such a maneuver in a game situation.
I am just kind of grasping at straws here.

I wonder if KD comes to media day each year with some random lie/half-truth to confuse the reporters.
"I'm 6'7"
"I'm 240 pounds"
"I can't palm a basketball"
"Getting Perk more shots in the offense could really get us over the hump"

Supposedly Shawn Kemp couldn't either

You are right mang! Makes sense, as we can see from the picture above he can palm the ball....not just with the same authority as jordan or irving as you said...but he can palm the ball...heck even I can palm the ball....

I think Kawhi Leonard is in the same area code as Michael Jordan in the palming regard (though not quite as well, nor used as often). Ditto Walter Herrmann.

I believe that. Well, I bet he could stuff it into his mitt and occasionally palm (like I was referencing in my first post) but likely could not do it readily and in the heat of the moment. I actually think that probably helped him from a dunking aesthetic standpoint. Most of his slams were full body excursions as opposed settling for straight armed Statue of Liberties.

Palming is not only about the size of one's hands, but also the strength of one's hands/fingers.

I'm only 6' and I can palm most basketballs. I don't believe this. I feel like I've seen him palm it in game.

Re: Kevin Durant can't palm a basketball
He might mean how Kobe once referred to it. Kobe- "I can palm a basketball, but I can't palm palm a basketball". Then he mentioned how MJ and Doc could "palm palm a basketball", using that term again, meaning at anytime with absolute control.
