Smile nba.com's standings are messed up

nba.com has Toronto as the 4th seed. They should be third because DET, CLE, and CHI are all in the same division. One of those must be the 5th seed.

What's the deal?

Yeah, but why the hell are they doing that? The NBA made the ridiculous seeding system, they might as well help us out a bit.

That's what I was gonna say, aren't they doing 1-3 by records, and then division winner gets the 4th seed if their record isn't better than the three teams ahead of them? Thought I read that somewhere preseason.

dont worry, sometimes when they're updating the records they'll mix somethings up but by the end of the night it will be right....seems like today was the first time you've been on NBA.com Standings in a long time

No that is what I always check. But I was questioning whether the explanation of Toronto wanting the third seed and Washington as 6th was correct or not, and seeing those standings made me worried. I just thought I'd make a thread about it anyway.

I never check NBA.com anymore. The only thing that it is good for is articles. In terms of updating, they suck. The scores are way slower than on espn.com, and the standings take ages..

I think you are correct, a division winner with a bad record will at least be ranked 4th in the conference for play off purposes
