It works for Kobe obviously, but index finger isn't fundamentally correct. Textbook form is middle finger.
Practically no one has perfect textbook form though, everyone's got something different that they use

kobe's touch is pretty good ( ow shit that didn't sounded good ^^ )
but i have seen better. Ray Allen is pretty smooth himself.
