Dude quit making crap up. The jobs that pay big money, the CEO's, the athletes, etc... They expect you to actually show up. You doing your job is their money. No one lets that crap slide. If you're the CEO of Fortune 500 company a leave of absence without a legit reason, and without a reasonable time table for your return, means you are being replaced. If the Bulls had any options that didn't hurt themselves long run they wouldn't be complacent about it. And most Top 25 NBA player (or any sport) don't pull this crap.

Is Rose fired? No. He could afford it. And CEOs doing it quite often, actually. They do give a timetable for their return though, that's true. But they can and sometimes do take some time off even when medically they are fine.
