Default Aren't Randle and Okafor redundant talents?

Towns, he can play center next to Randle ultimately. But Randle/Okafor are the same offense first, back to basket, need to learn to play better defensively FOURS. Okafor is a four. He plays like a four, in college he can play five but not here.

Thoughts? I think Lakers might take a guard.

Nope, they are the next Sampson/Hakeem or Duncan/D-Rob.

Okafor doesn't have a position. Whatever frontcourt teammate is the best defender he'll play along side him whether its PF or C. Just like Enes Kantar.

Look at some Randle preseason highlights. He played much differently than he did in college. He has great handles and quickness. He was also hitting the mid range J. They will be a great duo on offense and a terrible duo on defense.

    Lakers are taking Okafor regardless.

There's still no guarantee that Julius Randle is even an NBA Starter, he had the same concerns about his playing style and defense back when he was drafted. What makes it guaranteed that he'll be on the Lakers' roster in the next 5 years? 30/30 GMs would rather have Okafor than Randle, makes no sense to not draft him just because he doesn't fit next to a project with limited potential.

Lakers are gonna live in the post with Randle/Kobe/Okafor.

Defense with those 3 though, Jesus Christ, is gonna be atrocious.

This is. Lakers fans are acting like randle is a star when he still hasn't shown he can stick it in the league. Take the best player and work on fit later, The lakers aren't a win now roster unless they sign someone like marc gasol and some vets.

NO team should draft a player by a position. Just take the best player available and take care of that problem through free agency or trade.

OP obviously didn't watch too much randle during the pre-season

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyO4tJ83BII

Okafor can't go coast-to-coast like that and he sure as hell don't got a jump shot.

Okafor is more like a traditional big man and is 6-11 with shoes while Randle is a PF at 6-9.

Julius has the speed and quickness to play the 3 if he continues improving his shot, he can really attack the basket, he's scary in transition.

Okafor has huge arms and is tough to defend inside. They could work.

Julius faces up and drives, shoots a little midrange. Not nearly as much back to the basket as Okafor

Okafor is a four four and Randle is a tweener four. Both of them out there together is bad spacing and shitty defense.

Taking Okafor because you're not sure Randl is working makes sense but them together doesn't work well.

No. I think they have the potential to fit together very nicely offensively. The only problem is defensively they're going to have problems.

I think it's quite a stretch to try to compare it to Millsap and Jefferson but I think the fit could be somewhat similar in how they fit together.

Julius' 15 footer became apparent during summer league. i have no doubt he'll be a constant threat from there from here on out. so offensively, the two will be just fine.

its the defense that scares the living shit out of laker fans. randle has slimmed down since the injury, so im guessing were going to see scott try him at the 3 at times. but can he stay in front of 3s in this league, or go around constant screens? we'll see i guess. as for him guarding 4s. thats just as scary. and were all aware of Okafors defensive deficiencies.

its going to be an interesting off season for LA

randle is a straight up power forward ( 6-9, 250 pounds, post up player )

okafor is a straight up center (6-11, 271 pounds, post up player )

we aint got time for that stretch 4 three point shooting nonsense..

theyre a perfect fit for each other... especially cause randle can step out and handle the break. okafor can step out and hit mid range shots

perfect combo. together theyel run circles around other teams front courts ...
