guys, is this video legit?

I know ratings dont matter much but Dirk is at a 89, whereas he is usually at the 82-83 mark in the past few games.
monta at 82 is solid

Yep, thus far the new rating system is a little confusing but it seems to be a new attempt to properly gauge a player's importance to their team based on their player type.
I think the gist is, based on the type of player a guy is (say, defensive type), their overall may give heavier weight to their individual rebounding and and blocking attributes.
From a 2K developer:
Each Position has a set of Archetypes (or Player Types, if you will). All-Around, Athletic, Defensive, etc. Some positions share some of them, some have some unique ones too. A player has an overall per player type per position. So a player has (NumberOfPositions * NumberOfPlayerTypesPerPosition) overall ratings. Each Positional Player Type has its own overall formula (so PG All Around has a different formula than PF All Around has a different formula than C Defensive).
Whenever his overall rating gets updated, we calculate all the overall ratings for his position by player type. The player type that gives him his the highest overall is the one we determine "most compatible", so we assign it to him along with that Overall.
So yes, a player that might be C All-Around but as years go by sees his offensive attributes regress but you've made sure to keep him up to par defensively using (cheap plug but I'm a dev) our new in-season Training system, might see his player type change to C Defensive, and his value to the team will still be there.
So, with that, guys like Dirk Nowitzki and Tim Duncan may register high overalls because they still excel in areas that are very important to their player type. Previously, there was one overall formula, and Dirk always seemed to be punished for being incredible at certain aspects of the game, but only so-so in others while guys who were pretty good on both sides of the ball (while not great at anything in particular) received higher overalls than one may expect.
The old system may have literally provided an overall summation of a player's completeness. But the new system seems to be tied to what a player means to a team. Dirk, in theory, should be an 89 because the incredible skills he has - combined with even the not-so-great ones - still make him a great & important player to his team. I think...

Why do people even care about the initial ratings? You can just edit them yourself.

For me it might mean that the ratings of my player in career mode will progress more realistically than before. Hopefully not the usual "oh you're the 2nd best player in the league? Sorry still 80 until you get more XP".

Eh, I jumped on that xbox one deal.
Didn't have the Madden bundle in stock so I went with the Forza one. Picked up Destiny as the free game.
Guess I'm getting this for the One.

Re: Nba 2k15
Never cared about the odd ratings. I know every player in the league and how good they are. Dirk may have had a lower rating because the stats he excelled at weren't weighted heavily for the Power Forward position... but you could still dominate a game with Dirk.
It's cool that the new ratings will now more accurately reflect the players talent... but it never bothered me before.

This game is sounding really good, seems like they are making a lot of improvements instead of just releasing the same game with a different roster. Def going to pick this up

The only thing good about 2K14 was the gameplay. Everything else was garbage. Thank god they're taking VC out of Association mode. VC should only be used in MyTeam mode like EA does with FIFA.

Just reserved my copy at gamestop Saturday for the KD myteam card, myteam pack and 5000 vc.
Kinda excited about this game. I keep hearing good stuff about it.

I skipped 2k14. But I'm interested in this one. I liked 2k12.
