NBA 2K12 trading legends?
Can you not trade players from legendary teams this year? I was looking forward to trading Rodman to the 97-98 Lakers.

You can, it's easy. But requires a workaround.

Re: NBA 2K12 trading legends?
Also, it's worth noting that a DLC (downloadable content) will be released for 2K12 this coming Tuesday (November 29) which will allow the free trading of all legends without any kind of work around. It's presumed this will also allow roster makers to fill in blanks on classic teams where necessary (i.e. Nick Van Exel and Rick Fox on the '98 Lakers).

Even better. Hopefully that DLC is free, because that should've been in there from the get-go.

^^ TYTY so much for the info! I haven't even bought the game yet because of the inability to trade legends into existing rosters.

Why So Serious?
Re: NBA 2K12 trading legends?
You can do it guys.
1st step:
Create new season. Make sure to turn "on" the customize league. Then the next menu will let you choose what teams would be included on the season including the legends.
2nd step:
After you chose your legend team, for example 97-98 Lakers(afro kobe). You will be ask to save the season, save it and it will redirect you nba season home page. Go to "save" menu and export the team, save it.
3rd step:
Quit the season, load the team that you have just exported. Go to "manage roster" then by that you will be able to trade all those players from the legend team that you have just exported.

Unfortunately, since the DLC is an entirely new mode with upwards of at least 45 new legends (as well as "prime" versions of current players), it will cost $10. I have no problem with the price, as I have to believe having so many legends probably begins to add up in terms of paying for their rights. I look at it as my way of helping the cause.
I apologize for the forthcoming long list, but I think a lot of you guys will be interested to see who is included. And before someone asks, the new legends listed below have not been confirmed as available in the real part of the game, only the DLC; though, I've heard rumors they may be able to be hexed into the 360 version of the game.
Anyhow, here are the DLC Legends (in addition to the legends already available). I think it's worth noting it's not just a collection of the all-time best players, but some who are just known for being known (and still being pretty good in some cases) like Gheorghe Muresan, Mark Jackson, and Shawn Bradley. Current or recent NBA fans may want to gravitate toward the bottom of the list:

Do you guys have an idea on how to unlock the Kings(webber) and warriors(TMC) ?
I've heard those who got the copy of the game early would be the only one to unlock it? Is there any work around?

To be clear though, I've heard to this point the new legends will only be available for use within the DLC. There's an outside chance of them being hexed onto the real game (on 360) but nothing is definite.
Initially, I was sort of upset when I saw the list, because all I could think about is how I'd want to use those guys in the real game. But over time, I've come around. Regardless of whether it's in a game of five-on-five or two-on-two, using 2003 Ben Wallace, 2001 Vince Carter, and 1994 Kenny Anderson (and everyone else) is going to be a lot of fun.
Further, with the art department putting in extra work to re-create each of those players' authentic jerseys, there's hope that art will carry over to the actual game in 2K13. For someone who's big on classic teams, that'd mean the sunblast jerseys would finally make the cut ('93 Dan Majerle), the aforementioned '90's Nets uniforms (Kenny Anderson) and even some '80's Sonics duds (Tom Chambers).

I've heard various people suggest just downloading a roster from 2KShare that has those two teams. But I don't think that's how it works. Maybe if it's a roster with those two teams hexed as created teams. Otherwise, the Kings and Warriors are tied to a user's settings, not the roster file. As such, aside from the hex thought, I don't know any other way at this point.
By the by, I can't believe 2K would make such an exclusionary decision in this regard. I would have been pissed had I not received a Warriors/Kings code.

Those that unlocked the two teams uploaded them to 2kShare, so you can always find them online intact. But they will take up two slots of "Create A Team" and you only have 10.

How can I put Drexler and Hakeem on the Rockets together?

.
Well that sucks. One thing I like to do is rearrange the rosters so all the former players can be in the association mode. So you're saying this won't be possible with these players correct?
