Default thaddeus young moves to starting lineup - some questions -

This kid looks like he has a natural gift for rebounding. He's shown he's a formidable slasher too.

Can he defend?

Is his jumpshot fundamentally flawed or does he just need to develop range?

What player would you compare him to so far and projecting into the future?

i really, really like him...got a world of talent plus he's only 19, was considered by many as a top 3 pick early in last years mock drafts. Hollinger wrote up some article about Young being the best rookie no ones talking about

i remember in an ESPN.com article (maybe Hollinger??) that Young's jumpshot form is a less than perfect, but that the author of the column was fully confident that all it would take to lose the hitch is a shot coach and repetition.

As for range, he wasn't much of a three-point shooter in college or high school, so his range is fairly limited in the NBA. However, as someone else said, he's only 19 and has plenty of time to develop

I watched the Sixers-Wizards game, and your right, the kid can flat out rebound. He was pulling the ball down with one hand numerous times during the game.

The most impressive thing for me though was his defense on Jamison. Held him to 6/23 shooting and at times, Washington couldn't get him the ball at all because of Young playing him so tightly. And no I don't blame this on the lack of ball handlers/passers on the Wizards team that day. Almost anybody can make a simple post entry pass, but Young was fantastic.

Most of his shots came from inside the key (made some good cuts to get himself open). I think he took one outside shot from between the elbow of the key and the 3 point line, and it went in and looked smooth for a left handed shooter. He is working specially with someone from the Sixers in that department apparently according to a commentator, so that will develop as well.

Work in progress is what he is. Right now he is just trying to get adjusted to the speed and talent of the game. He's always been considered a top talent. In highschool was ranked high. Gtech he balled but not as great as many thought he should have. His entire game has to be developed. Right now he gets what it means to be a role player...he hustles, crashes boards and plays defense. Doesnt go out of that for the time being. Starting from here on out (hopefully) he can gain even more confidence and put it together (what he's learning) and improve more than just what you get now (rebounding/defense).

He's got the potential to be a potential All Star caliber player. If anything he can be some variation of Al Harrington.

Young could be where Marvin is right now in 3 years.

What style does the kid have? Who does he remind you of. I haven't seen many Sixers' games this year.
