Why have the Spurs hung on to Matt Bonner for so long?
Because he can shoot 3's?
Decent role player?
Mascot?
Token ginger?

All of those combined. He's a fun guy to have around the locker, plus he's a good role player who can shoot 3's (Key player in that 2014 series vs OKC).
Oh and he comes for cheap at 1.5 mil per year.

Because if you're going to have a guy that isn't going to get many minutes, you might as well get one that you like as a locker room guy.

Re: Why have the Spurs hung on to Matt Bonner for so long?
Because he's a great shooter, great locker room guy, high IQ, makes the right passes, unselfish, gets along well with players and coaches, no ego, provides the Spurs with the ability to go for a different look, plays for vet min.
If Cady LaLane impressed at camp, I wouldn't have been surprised if BonBon got an AC or FO job.
Also, dudes +/- numbers are off the charts

Maybe he is hung like a horse. Remember they see stuff in the locker room that we don't.

Hope Bonner is a Spur until he retires. I don't see any other team utilizing him.

Matt Bonner - King of the +/- Shoulda gotten a veteran wing/backcourt player. Bonner is not needed with LMA, TD, Diaw and West.

I just think its interesting. Guys like him tend to bounce around the league, to whichever team is willing to have them. He's managed to stay with one team for quite a while, and a perennially great team at that. Who else is like that? Its unique.

Although i've always been a bit harsh on him, this is the first season I honestly believe he's wasting a roster spot....the dude can't even move, he's done, its ****ed, he must have dirt on the front office or something
