Default We judge the earlier eras so much

But without them, there would be no basketball like what we have today in the NBA. NBA in the 60swas still a primitive era, those legends paved the way, show some respect.

Mid 80s, 90s, early 00s, was the toughest era to be honest
Mid 00s was the start of softness in the NBA, but its still watchable
Today is probably the softest basketball that I've seen.

The two replies above show how stupid they really are in regards to basketball.

Good post OP. Everyone from today learned from the pioneers of the past. It's easy to copy but it's not easy to innovate and create. I'll give Bran credit for his innovation of dominating with playmaking. It used to be most about individual scoring in the recent era when he just began as a yungin.

There were some great players in the 70s but the league really wasn't very popular.

It was really Magic and Bird that caught the public's imagination. Saying they saved the league might be an exaggeration but the impact they had was immense.

Both guys had huge followings from college. Both guys emphasized team play. Both guys went to storied franchises which became dynasties, and rivals.

When they met in the Finals for the first time it was a media frenzy like the NBA had never seen.
