Spurs interested in Steven Adams

Spurs used to pick up low risk high reward players, not sure how I like this move.

The Spurs are a treadmill team with DeRozan and an old Aldridge as their two best players. To trade for Adams would just be pointless. They need to get rid of D&A and just start over. More people need to follow Jerry West actions with the Clippers. He saw the writing on the table and traded Blake the first chance he could and now they are an even bigger contender they were ever during the CP3 + Blake era as they actually have some depth to go with their stars this time around. If you are after the ultimate goal to win a championship then that is obviously NEVER happening if DerRozan and Aldridge are your best players, so to trade for Steven Adams is just trying to run that treadmill a bit quicker. They are going nowhere with this current group. Trade D&A and start a five year plan.

It's a fine idea, Spurs never really needed high draft picks other than Duncan because they're so godly at drafting after the lottery. Murray and White are good pieces to have, making the PO's while they're young will only help in the long run. Trading DeRozan won't really get you much, they're probably just gonna let Aldridge walk after his deal expires or deal him for some picks. I'm more interested in what they do when Popovich leaves due to age, but they'll have a lot of flexibility once those contracts come off the books.

Re: Spurs interested in Steven Adams
Adams for either one of Derozan or Aldridge is a clear upgrade.
Derozan and Aldridge are not players who will ever get to a finals. Definite. Neither player is good enough as a first option and neither player would accept a fitting role as a 3rd option.
Spurs have been making very questionable free agent moves since Aldridge. I have no clue why Spurs would fall in love with this guy to actively recruit him.
They really missed the mark when they could have pursued Marc Gasol that offseason. They could have tanked and then traded for KP (who they had interest in). They could have tried to sign Valenciunas this offseason.
All around bad moves.

I don't think the impact would be enough to put much effort in pursuing him or losing amybody.

Hell yeah, but I don't see it happening...
I'd give up Dejounte Murray and Poetl for him but no way the Thunder want Murray with both CP0 and SGA on the roster.
LOL @ everyone ITT suggesting a trade of Aldridge or Derozan. Spurs would trade neither, though I'd love to see Derozan go. Spurs were clearly better with Aldridge as "the man" even if they weren't a threat to win a championship.
