Why did the Lakers reject 7 foot 9" Sun Mingming?

doesn't he have some foot deformation rendering him unable to run quickly? i saw the documentary on him on tv a while ago. his lack of speed and stamina have been the main concerns for nba teams, no one other than aba teams are willing to pick him up.

Yeah it's like foot bidding the Chinese did a century or more ago. Sadly, he grew up wearing shoes 4-5 sizes too small for him which cause those deformations. I think he should have some major foot surgery in order to correct his footwork and speed issues. I suppose Sun must have a lot of willpower to play under such pain. Just look at Kenny George. Kenny can no longer play just because he lost a part of his right foot to an infection. I think Sun's footwork may get better if has his foot deformation corrected.
