Relatively deep team that shot a ton of three's. Magic even won a playoff game in the first round without Dwight playing altogether
That plus SVG.

A good one but he wasn't great at creating his own offense and he was hardly a fantastic 2nd option for a contender and not a true All-Star caliber player either.
Very one dimensional offensively and not a good defender either.
Hedo was a nice elite roleplayer.
Pietrus was a good roleplayer.
Jameer was actually their 2nd best player and he had an excellent/impressive year but he got injured and was unavaliable in the playoffs.
The rest of the guys were pretty crappy.
They were hardly deep and their bench outside of Pietrus was pretty damn unproductive & inefficient.
The 2009 Magic were one of the weakest Finalists in recent memory especially once Jameer went down.
Dwight was pretty dominant that year and his two way impact is what carried them.
Captain clutch Hedo Turkoglu carried that team to the finals that year.

Re: Dwight Howard on the verge of demanding a trade from Rockets
Anyone who thinks Jax is even slightly interested in a fool like Howard needs their head examined. NY finally cleaning the stench out - and you want J.R.Smith on roids? SMMFH.
Keep that dumbass away from the Garden. Let the Nets or Bronzy have him.

Yeah Hedo was pretty good.
Swiss army Diaw type roleplayer.
Helped provide that team with some extra ball-handling and playmaking that was needed.
He averaged 15 / 5 / 5 on 53%TS pre-Finals.
Was their 3rd best player after Dwight & Lewis.
Dwight averaged 22 / 15.4 / 1.8 / 2.2-bpg on 65%TS pre-Finals.

The Cavs are not an option unless Dwight develops an outside shot Knicks are doing better than expected right now so why rock the boat? Not sure if the C's would want Dwight since he is a coach killer.

He wasn't a legit All-Star caliber player.
Pretty one dimensional offensively and not a good defender either.

Pietrus was a good roleplayer.

Dude.. Howard averaged 15 ppg in the Finals and got put in place by friggin Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol... not exactly HOF defenders or anything.
Not to mention the Magic went through a Celtics team with no Kevin Garnett (not their fault, but lets keep it in mind). Howard's best series came up against old man Ilguaskas
You saying Lewis wasn't a "legitimate All Star player" doesn't change the fact that he was indeed an All Star player.
Howard was efficient around the basket (alley oops and put-backs galore) but he wasn't even taking the most shots in the playoffs on average and since his ORL days he hasn't exactly grown as a scorer... if anything he plateaued a few seasons back
09 Playoffs:
Lewis: 19 ppg / 14.5 fga per game
Turk: 16 ppg / 12.3 fga per game
Alston: 12 ppg / 12.1 fga per game
Howard: 20 ppg / 11.7 fga per game

True and I thought his performance in that series was quite dissappointing.
Howard's best series came up against old man Ilguaskas
I still don't think we should discount his amazing play in that series.
Big Z wasn't a bad player or a bad defender.
Plus he did badly outplay Peak Lebron in the G7... not an unimpressive feat.

"All-Star" for me is about reaching a certain level. A level I don't think Lewis was at.
Just making the All-Star game doesn't mean a guy is an "All-Star caliber player" etc...
Plenty of guys who weren't even remotely close to All-Star caliber have made and performed in the ASG.
since his ORL days he hasn't exactly grown as a scorer...
True but his offensive game looked pretty decent back in those days.
Maybe the system helped but he was much better then he has been recently.
Lewis: 19 ppg / 14.5 fga per game
Howard: 20 ppg / 11.7 fga per game
This doesn't account for FT's
When you factor in fouls drawn Dwight is basically tied with Lewis for most shot-attempts per game on the team.
