The NBA office admitted that a critical charge call on Dallas Mavericks guard O.J. Mayo in the final seconds of Tuesday's 106-104 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers was incorrect.
The call occurred with 1.5 seconds remaining in a tie game at the Rose Garden.
"After review at the league office, the video replay confirmed the play should have been ruled a blocking foul as Portland's Ronnie Price did not get his body directly in Mayo's path prior to him starting his upward shooting motion," an NBA statement read. "Mayo should have been granted two free throws."
I still can't believe they called that a charge.
the blocking call was clear as f-ing day and those morons f-ed it up.
Re: NBA admits refs made mistake in Dallas/Portland game
Wonder if they will review any thing from the NOLA/Lakers game last night. Probably not, but that was a terribly officiated game. This non-tech and Kobe taking 6 steps when he was getting doubled late in the game specifically.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cS35ES-ch3o
Re: NBA admits refs made mistake in Dallas/Portland game
It is also worth noting, that the Blazers could have still made that final shot (they would have 1.5 seconds either way the call goes) and it would be overtime, so not a guaranteed win for the Mavs if the call went their way.
Re: NBA admits refs made mistake in Dallas/Portland game
This is not a big deal (except to Dallas fans).
Once the league fesses up about the rigging in all playoff series during the years the Lakers' won 'championship'* since David Stern and the Heat 2006 finals, then it will be a big deal and the league can finally get credibility in the eyes of true sports fans.
Re: NBA admits refs made mistake in Dallas/Portland game
You should be pissed off at your players for losing a 21 point lead.
2 FTs that weren't guaranteed to go in, when it's a tie game, and the game was decided by the opponent making a buzzer beater at the end to win it all.
Re: NBA admits refs made mistake in Dallas/Portland game
Aldridge's "goaltend" on Durant last year cost Portland the game. Then we went on a losing streak that got multiple players traded and Nate McMillan fired. We ended up getting Lillard though. It's not all that bad sometimes.

The goaltend call was the first thing I thought of when I came into this thread too.
