Speaking of Hakeem..
If Lebron retired for 2 years and KD won b2b while he was gone..
Wouldn't anybody really care?

But I thought the East was weak and anybody could make it out of that conference. How are they expected to beat anyone coming out of the mighty West?

You're putting words in my mouth..
Never did I say "expected to win"...
I said good enough to win...
Only one team can represent each conference, if your team is good enough to win 3 rounds in their conference, then they are the best representative for said conference and have are good enough to win a title.
Of course when you have such lopsided conferences such as the current east & west the western representative will probably be more prepared seeing as they've faced better teams on their way to the finals..
But that doesn't mean the eastern team isn't good enough to win?
How is that hard to understand?
If you're the last team standing in your conference.. You're good enough to win a title..

According to OP logic, 5 first round losses > making the Finals 5 times, but losing three of them

Just curious...
I want you to compare Chamberlain's '64 Warrior roster with Russell's '64 roster.
Furthermore, while Russell had seven other HOF teammates, how about the fact that Wilt's two "HOF" teammates were a rookie, playing part-time, and out of position, and the other was among the worst shooters to have ever played the game. Furthermore, those two HOF teammates that Wilt had went on to shoot .326 and .258 in that Finals, as well.
But go ahead and explain why it was WILT's fault that his team didn't beat Russell's in that Finals.

Why can't people use context for anything. All Finals losses are different. LeBron losing in 2011 for example is MUCH worse than when he lost in '07 and this year to teams that were significantly better than his. I'd also give him more grief for losing to the Celtics in 2010 than I would losing in the Finals this year.

Mikan 1.000%
Russell .917%
Shaq .667%
Hakeem .667%
KAJ .600%
Wilt .333%

5 first round losses = 0/0
5 finals, losing 3 of them = 2/5
2/5 > 0/0
So no that's not my logic.

And his only two rings have a big fat ASTERIX next to them due to Jordan's brief retirement.
Meanwhile, Wilt had tougher competition and was best in his conference twice as much as Hakeem, and played against GOAT-level teams.

Ok, let me clarify
5 first round losses & 2/2 in Finals > 0 first round losses, 2/5 in Finals
