You can wish that it doesn't hurt him. But the fact that people take into account that Shaq was the man for those 3 rings is something that always comes up. Thus it hurts him. He wasn't the main focus of the defense. Even Kobe himself didn't like it, which is what he told Phil Jackson when he wanted Shaq out.

My point about Lebron is that I rather have his career, where he's carrying mediocre roster to 60 win teams, and the Finals. With all the weight on him. When he wins he gets all the credit, when he loses he gets all the blame. When Kobe loses, people use others as scapegoats.

While I think it's totally conceivable Kobe will end up with a better career, you can't base it on that ball considering how many Kobe stans and Laker fans are throughout the country/world.
