Default Laker News: Chris Kaman not happy he signed with the Lakers

    http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.c...artner=ya5nbcs

First Howard, then Pau, now Kaman. Not to mention how Hill must feel.
I'm quite positive that there isn't a Center in the NBA who wants to play for 'Antoni......the negativity is spreading from the locker room all across the league.
"Don't trade me there!!!" If 'Antoni stays around much longer we may end up with Mbenga coming back to the NBA as our starting Center soon

Dantoni and his system are more for the guard /stretch fwd.. and it shows on the stats. The high scorers are usually the Sg and Sf..
Hill has hustled his @ss off to get what he gets. Whereas Pau and Kamman have been getting it when fed by each other or if the pg runs a play for them.

It is a Shame as I thought Nash would utilize the PnR with Gasol effectively. Yet with all the down time from injury that never really came about.

I do not see Gasol/Hill/ or Kamman returning. Kamman has the right to be unhappy. Even he wants to play. We could have asked elden campbell outta retirement and payed him 1 mill and saved the cash we payed kamman if this is how we are goign to use him. They would be doing the same thing now. Sitting on the bench.

There has been too much ineffective use of them by Dantoni and he refuses to adjust. It is a shame as we saw how Hill can really do damage in the low post when the game is paced to his play. I am gonna HATE when he leaves.
Still we all knew this was going to be a rebuilding block year and management may very well use this as leverage in trying to negotiate.
ie:" Your numbers weren't that spectacular... or you really didnt fit into our plan.. why should we pay you. " When it was all so predicated on the system they were forced to play.
Yet when the playoffs come you need bigs as the style of play slows down and the run n gun gets nulled in a big way.

I was unhappy with Dantoni's hiring and remain so. Sure its nice to see the athletes we have, but what good is it when they are outmatched by oversized
bigs who abuse them in the post and outrebound them.

I'm not sure why any C would want to play in LA. 'Antoni doesn't like them so it makes sense they feel the same way in return.

All Bigs in Antoni's system will not be happy that's why their voicing their opinions Howard,Gasol,Hill in both NY & LA and now Kaman. Lakers need to fire his @ss he never won a championship in his career and he's not going to with the Lakers I'm afraid.

It's kind of well known that his system and coaching style too doesn't help or cater to bigmen, although Stoudemire did quite well in it he was what it needed extremely athletic and was playing with a prime Steve Nash (Nash probably helped him far more than the system itself, the system was more giving Nash the keys to the ferrari and telling him to drive), I'm not surprised a lot of centers have been annoyed in the system primarily Gasol and Kaman and also Hill because at times they are in the dogbox/mistreated, Kaman doesn't really fit the athletic bigman that the system needs he's an okay midrange shooter but not the true stretch shooter or with the defence to be able to play power forward I wouldn't think. I don't know why any bigman would want to come to LA, Dwight seemed to be being misused and underused a little but his lack of offensive moves and fumbling I doubt filled D'Antoni with confidence (and was #1 or close to it in touches in the post) but he left and I have little doubt a large part of it was that D'Antoni even if you kind of fit his system you still aren't really catered to and you will eventually be misused or not be a vital part. It's certainly a guard first guard second guard third system with little attention usually paid to bigmen. D'Antoni doesn't really value or cater to his bigmen's games and strengths so why would they enjoy playing for him?

If you can't win with some of those Suns teams I really don't see how he ever will? He was severely outcoached a number of times in the playoffs by Popovich especially and it just shows his system doesn't work that well in the playoff's, because the style is slower and you need to feed your bigmen more (assuming you have quality ones), I don't think his style really did slow down in the playoff's and the defense wasn't good either. He could be a good coach in my opinion if he actually cared about defense or winning for winnings sake in my opinion if he wins and it's not because of his system or coaching he wouldn't be that happy he is married to his system and style of coaching and if he doesn't change that he will not win a championship, he's too much of a one trick pony as coach (he used small ball before it was popular he did it when it was different now a lot of teams do it his coaching really isn't unique anymore)

Agreed! It's apparent that Antoni's system doesn't feed the big boy's enough down low. Therefore his small back attack ain't big enough to go deep in the playoffs which at best would enable him to get to the preliminary rounds of the playoffs. You can't really change Antoni's system cause the personnel is tailored to play his small ball style from the get go just chucking up perimeter shots 1 after another hoping it goes in. As long as he's head of the helm his teams won't ever have big physical brutes.

If you don't feed the bigmen because you have say a defensive anchor like Ben Wallace he could contribute 10-15 points but he wasn't meant to need to do much more, he was the defensive anchor the general on defense, but if you aren't feeding them because of your system? You don't feed a bigman because you cater more to guards? That in my opinion is a right joke, you need some sort of inside presence to go further in the playoffs, how long since a team won the NBA title when leading 3 point shooting? I think Miami last year may have been the closest but I think they were only top 5 that may be wrong but I'm quite sure it's correct but let me know if I'm wrong, it's a rarity because you can't just rely on the perimeter in the playoff's, defenses tighten up and close down guards more and the pace slows down of course, you need some sort of inside presence or at least someone that can routinely finish dunks from drives or alley oops/passes. If I was a bigman unless I'm an Amare clone I'm not liking it, Amare was a physical freak once upon a time with a prime Nash and shooters surrounding him the essentially 1 presence and 3/4 shooters or 3 shooters defensive specialist (usually his was the 4-1 to memory in Phoenix but this was when I was a kid so not 100% correct but I'm sure that was routinely what it was and from re-reading haha). Amare wasn't really a defensive presence for the most part and that's being generous, he was just a physical freak overall but not really a bruiser in the paint on defense etc I wouldn't describe him as a brute though. Look at how Shaq struggled even with Amare there and Nash at point because the system doesn't work with two bigman or without a deadeye 4 stretch, it's a system that is very specific and you rarely will see players fit it especially like in Phoenix and unless players fit they won't do well in it and that's a large problem, as a coach important things your supposed to get the best out of players and improve them or make them play better than they are or usually can and I don't think D'Antoni does either of those.

If 'Antoni doesn't get fired and replaced by a very good coach, I will be extremely upset.
