Sources: Anderson Varejao, Cavs in contract extension talks
"The Cleveland Cavaliers are engaged in serious talks with center Anderson Varejao on a contract extension, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Varejao, 32, could become an unrestricted free agent in July 2015. Nevertheless, he and Cavaliers officials have a mutual desire to reach an agreement in the near future and continue a 10-year partnership."

It will be interesting to see what happens here. Personally I hope he stays a Cav. until he retires, but I imagine the offers will be pouring in if he returns to the 14/14+ player he is, and looks like he did in the pre-season.

Sign Varejao, let Thompson walk.

How much is he worth?
How long of a contract do we offer given his age and history of injuries?
3-year deal?

Maybe he'll do like Big Z and take less money to stay.
He seems to like it here, and knows he's a fan-favorite.
He's already made plenty of $...and now his P&R buddy is back so I can't imagine why he'd want to leave.

A four year deal with the money streched out for those years would be ideal imo.
Still I can't see a scenario where he doesn't retire with the Cavs.

I think a 3 year w/ a team option on the third.

Thompson is going to get between 9-11 million a year for four years. He's worth it too.

We can't let Thompson walk though.
Varejao isn't going to (and shouldn't) play 38+ mpg regularly.

I don't think he's worth that amount of money. He's a nice hustle player, with terrible defense. The only thing that speaks in his advantage is the fact that Rich Paul is his agent.

where does this "terrible defense" myth come from?
He's a well above average defender. He's not a shot blocker, but that doesn't mean he's a terrible defender.

I posted an article on RCF regarding the league's best-and-worst rim protectors not to long ago. TT was among the worst. Let me see if I can find it.
