China is as capitalist as it gets. Nothing remotely resembling communist.

Of course China is capitalist in that the economic system is based on profit-seeking through capital. But so were all the other communist states, which were capitalist kleptocracies... Even the USSR under Stalin was all about boosting GDP through mass industrialisation. The idea was that backward agrarian societies had to become industrialised capitalist economies before they could finally reach the stage of "true socialism", whatever that meant. The realization of the beautiful ideal of pure, perfect socialism was always delayed, in the meantime the reality was a ruthless state capitalism (and by state here I really mean a small group of profiteers and thugs). Of course the end of the USSR didn't bring about the redistribution of capital from the "common good" to private hands, but from one group of parasite (the "apparatchiks") to the next (the "oligarchs")... sometimes these were even the same people.

What is true is that its form of capitalism is getting closer to the one we're accustomed to in the West.

But of course, you would know all this, O Supreme Leader. After all, no one knows more about Marxism-Leninism than you do.
