At the same time, before that MJ, the greatest player alive was making like 3-5 mill a year.. vs. scrubs who now make that money.

Fixed
MJ did not get huge sallaries until his final years. And the 97/98 season was a reward for what he gave to basketball.
I totalled once the amount of shoots over that season and it came out to one shot was my annual income.

I'm sorry, but nobody who plays basketball for a living, not even the GOAT deserves 33 mil a year. I agree that he deserved to be the highest paid because he was the best at his craft, but that number is staggaring.

Re: Wow, salaries of the 97-98 Chicago Bulls
Yeah when I found out MJ & Pippen made like 2 mill per season for most of their careers I almost puked, when comparing to today's scrubs.
Look at it like this....real estate was WAAY cheaper back then.
So any player who invested most of their $$ into houses got a nice flip.

LOL look at his other years #s.He was getting like 3 mill a year.In todays nba Mj salary is for scrubs or low key role players. It doesn't really matter because Mj got so much endorsments he could live off that.

Re: Wow, salaries of the 97-98 Chicago Bulls
That's a bit misleading because they Bulls paid Michael Jordan $1-$2 million/season to Jordan for basically the first part of his career.
The $30 mill he made off the Bulls for the last two seasons was basically making up for some (not even close to all though) of the hundreds of millions he made for the Bulls franchise over his career.
Pippen likewise got paid big time with the Blazers after leaving the Bulls.

Re: Wow, salaries of the 97-98 Chicago Bulls
Pippen was highly underpaid. Damn he wouldn't be broke too!
-
Re: Wow, salaries of the 97-98 Chicago Bulls
Jordan and Pippen were both at odds with Reinsdorf/Krause because they were grossly underpaid for years.
Reinsdorf/Krause really hit the jackpot though getting both of those guys locked in to long term contracts like that.
They made a fortune off that franchise in the 90s no question.

Re: Wow, salaries of the 97-98 Chicago Bulls
yeah , Krause was seriously raping them, Even when pippen was a Free agent Krause wasnt trying to Pay him more than he was before. He was almost leaving the bulls for another Team and Jordan made them sign him or else he was leaving too. Bulls Management is stingy. I had to laugh when Gordon Turned down 50 Mil they were Offering him knowing the Bulls History.
