In the 1981 the Lakers took SG Mike McGee with the 19th pick in the first round while the very next pick the Suns selected PF LARRY FRIGGIN NANCE!!!!

It seems that this is a lost blunder in draft history because the Lakers still won 4 more titles in the 80's but Larry Nance was an all star caliber player with explosive offense, solid defense and rebounding.

Considering what the Lakers did in that decade with Kurt Rambis, and AC Green as starting PF's (Kevin McHale and Olajuwon used to feast on them) can you imagine what that lineup would've looked with Larry Nance as the starting PF and Rambis off the bench?

I always heard bits and pieces on why they took McGee but does anybody know the REAL reason? Was it a Jerry West or Dr Buss decision?
