Funny how nobody knew LeBron was even a name before 2002-2003.
Look at the Kobe from 2000-2003
Dude got that recognition from the Finals and rape allegations

Re: Chart shows more ppl are willing to name their babies after kobe than lebron
Year before LeBron became famous:
6 Babies
Best Year:
110 Babies
= 1733% increase
Year before Kobe:
87 babies
Peak:
1552 Babies
1684% increase
So it's close. Factor in that Kobe plays in a huge LA market and the fact that you can really only name a black baby LeBron where as Kobe is a more versatile name and i gotta give the edge to LeBron.

notice how 2004-2011 lebron was steady at around 95 babies per year, then after the decision it was cut to half and rings* have not mattered, you know ghetto parents who name babies after famous ppl dont want their sons to become shortcutists

Counts 1996..
Go back to the drawing board.. you're drunk.
True but LeBron in '02 was as much a household as Kobe in '96 (cause of the HS hype). It's a fairer comparison.

Is Baby name% increase the best way to rank players? I think so.

Re: Chart shows more ppl are willing to name their babies after kobe than lebron
Kibe has an advantage in this statistical category because parents naturally want to provide realistic expectations for their kid.
A top 5 player all time like Lebron is a very daunting comparisn for a young child to be able to live up to, but someone like Kobe who is just a volume scorer on a great organization is more within the reach of an average, middle-of-the-pack child.
If you dissect the numbers I am sure you will find that the Lebron parents are more ambitious and optimistic about the future of their children, whereas the kobe parents are realistic, and understand that the world still needs garbage men and front desk help at the tanning salon.
