I think Ben Shaprio had the most rational take on this. Trump should NOT be allowed to reallocate funding from the defense/pentagon budget by calling this a national emergency because that opens up a shitload of problems in the future for presidents declaring different things national emergencies and just doing whatever the **** they want in terms of budgeting.

And I might add, that's not to say we don't spend too much on defense, we do, but that doesn't mean you just get to do whatever you want.
