It has to do with conference disparity too.. Ie when kobe carried scrubs to the playoffs out west he got a 7 or 8 seed and had to play top ranked suns teams. If he played east, his team maybe gets a few more wins but even if they don't they'd be playing the bosh led raptors in 07 and the Wizards in 06.. just a massive difference.

Same thing with jordan.. had to play dynasty celtics and pistons at their peak. What do you expect? Of course lebron will have a better chance to get his team further when he's playing vastly inferior competition.

I do agree bron is a better one man army type because of being able to clog more holes.. but conference/opponent disparity plays a big part

This is exactly what MJ did in 1989 despite Doug Collins' poor coaching.

Without MJ in 1989, the 6th-seeded, 47-win Bulls miss the playoffs.

But WITH Jordan, they took the champion Bad Boys to 6 games in ECF.. So instead of being a lottery team heading into the 1990 season, the Bulls were ECF veterans and 1 season away from their 1st three-peat.. That's the GOAT impact - lottery vs. 1 season away from 3-peat.

What a joke - MJ gave Kerr and Paxson the careers they have now.

Without MJ, we'd never have heard of these guys - they'd be nobodies on garbage teams or not even in NBA.. Kerr, Paxson and Armstrong were comfortable playing with MJ, so they always came up big..

Whereas Chalmers, Cole and Battier always sucked alongside Lebron, despite having equal or greater talent to Kerr/Paxson/Armstrong.

Btw, Horace Grant says he'd be just another player without MJ:

Kobe was playing Phoenix Suns in the 1st round. Suns took the 2007 Spurs, which swept Cleveland, to 7 games.

To be honest though, which one of LeBron's "bad teams" would beat the 80s Celtics or Bad Boy Pistons in a 7 game series?

I think LeBron would lose every year if they had to play those two teams in the playoffs, even with Wade and Bosh.
