Scouting the Orlando Magic
* He’ll never be a star, but the Magic at least got a young double-double threat in Nikola Vucevic as part of their haul for Howard. The 6-foot-10 center from Montenegro is averaging 12.5 points and 11.5 rebounds while leading the team with a 17.0 Player Efficiency Rating. He pulled down a franchise-record 29 rebounds against Miami on Dec. 31.
* Second-year small forward Tobias Harris is flourishing since arriving in Orlando in the J.J. Redick deal. He’s tripled his scoring average, from 4.9 to 16.4 points, while quadrupling his rebounding average from 2.0 to 8.2. Harris has been especially good over the past five games, during which he’s averaged 21.6 points with outings of 29 and 30.
