Duncan is the man! Could have retired a few years ago if he really wanted to. Instead he helped the Spurs to back-to-back Finals and another championship while staying in tip top shape (unlike say... late Shaq). Couldn't knock em all down tonight but he's hit plenty of big shots in his career against the Lakers.

But yeah... his scoring is superb particularly in his physical prime. From 1998 to 2008 he averaged 22 points a season (50.8 FG%) including 140+ thirty or more point games and 340+ twenty-five or more point games playoffs included... and that's keeping in mind he's not launching endless low percentage three's to get these points, he's grinding em out in the paint and midpost and in an era with great big men (Shaq, Garnett, Dirk, Wallace's, Webber, Malone, Amare + Marion, etc) and great defenses.. and being the offensive cog for a slow-paced Spurs team.

Even nowadays, or last season's per-36 minutes... his scoring (18.7 per) was in the vicinity of Monta Ellis (18.6), Klay Thompson (18.7), and Dwight Howard (19.5). Fact that he's still put up double doubles is impressive for a 38 year old with tons of mileage. Scoring wise I'd still take him over a bunch of current starting bigs. Def a top-10 all time talent and underrated scorer in his prime IMO

so you base your like and dislike of players based off their fans

First of all... props for giving congrats to Duncan

Second of all thats EXACTLY what people do to Lin they hate him because he has rabid fans

Third I consider Kobe one of the greatest to ever lace em up and I have mad respect... I don't dislike the guy. Quit projecting. It's a simple fact that Kobe stans shit on other players when it's not necessary. The Spurs fans on this board, on the other hand, are pretty classy on the whole.

I'm pretty sure we only count Kobe's missed shots because he owns the record for it

The 25-27k point plateau has become relatively crowded, so people have stopped paying much attention (they will, though, when LeBron reaches there, it's almost certain). To give some perspective, Moses Malone is 7th all-time and he's only a bit more than 2,000 points ahead. So, being 18th is not actually much less impressive than being 18th. In the end, every time someone passes one of the GOAT scorers in scoring, it is a big deal, so congratulations to Tim.
I'd really want to see how many points a healthy West would have ended up with. IMO, he'd be in the 30,000 point club.
