I had a friend back in the day who did a party every year that was all Mead and Grog.

    I preferred the Grog.

But the end result was a bunch of people really ****ed up.

yes that was me, although the pointy hat greatly added to my dimensions for sure.

grog is basically watered-down bad rum or bad booze, so i assume the women were pretty hot.

I like it, but so few places carry any.

So far I've seen it in a few places, just no real variety. If I can find a really good one it would be the kind of thing that could set a Superbowl party apart, you know? For that one occassion I'd blow a chunk of change on ordering it from somewhere.

It's actually really easy to make homemade mead. You could figure it out from a few youtube videos.

You may be right but I'd have to do practice batches first and if I can just get a case of a really good brand I achieve my goal. But I am thinking about experimenting with the stuff.

so a buddy and i biked out to a local pub / brewery and i was thrilled to discover that they had a variety of house meads on tap. (not to mention a small music stage and pinball machines)

i had a spicy mead and it was great... ordered two more after a delicious house chocolate coffee stout.

apparently there are four main mead varieties- fruit, flower, wine, ale. not sure which type i had (forgot the technical names) but i'll definitely be going back to this most awesome, excellent place......

I had a honey mead once about 10 years ago. It was pretty good.

The update: Settled on Chaucer's Mead, available at Trader Joe's. I prefer it cold.
