Best Gasoline Brands
Is there an actual difference in quality between brand name gasoline and generic?
I hear all these things:
Costco only buys the cheapest gas on the market/costco advertises that their gas meets higher standards
76 uses ethanol
Using Chevron cleans out your system
The government requires such high standards for gasoline to be sold that all brands are good quality.
Thinking along the lines of Chevron, Shell, 76, Mobile, Valero etc. vs Costco, Arco(I know they use ethanol), Circle K, Joe's Budget Gas etc.

Re: Best Gasoline Brands
yes and no.... there is a difference, most cars won't notice a difference unless it's a true high performance car that requires the good stuff and even then there's good good stuff and better good stuff
here on the West Coast if you have a car that requires the higher octane fuel then you'll use Union 76 or Chevron, even Arco's best won't cut it
Some companies arrive at higher octane numbers via additives where the better fuels are refined to a higher octane
so there is a difference BUT your average car won't know the difference performance

Re: Best Gasoline Brands
most engines tend to run a little bit better on gas that does not contain ethanol, but the difference is so small that you probably wont be able to notice it in most vehicles.

Re: Best Gasoline Brands
unless u have a high performance vehicle, premium doesn't do shit for you. most people get it thinking they have to but its additives are mainly for high performance motors. google it.
worst case you'll get engine knocking...

Re: Best Gasoline Brands
I believe the difference is the additives that each company puts into their mix. The actual crude oil is the same.
