Actually JJ, Smith, & Horford are 3 of the 5 greatest Atlanta Hawks.
They have had other good/great players, but they never lasted long there.

A lot of people need to research the topic before discussing, especially you.

Lou Hudson? Cliff Hagan? Bob Pettit? Honestly, I think John Drew has been better than Joe Johnson as far as accomplishments (minus the drugs and being banned from the league lol)
It's up in the air for me whether they retire the jersey or not. I did like JJ and all that he's done for the Hawks but it wasn't very remarkable in any sense since the Hawks have regularly underachieved as of lately.

Dominique Wilkins says hi.
But yes, he will get his number retired. He is/was the face of the Hawks this past decade really.

Re: Will Hawks Retire Joe Johnson's Jersey
They probably should. As a franchise their standards are pretty low and Joe Johnson fits the criteria for "all time great Atlanta Hawk" and god knows they don't come around often.

Re: Will Hawks Retire Joe Johnson's Jersey
Lol 2 time MVP Bob Pettit brought the Hawks their ONLY championship. I'd say he was the best of them. Heck, he even beat the Russell Celtics to do it.

Absolutely. Arguably the greatest Hawk of all-time.

I was specifically talking about the Atlanta Hawks.
I knew people would start naming guys pre-merger when they were in St.Louis.

My point still stands he's the 2nd best Atlanta Hawk.
Petit played for the St.Louis Hawks long before the merger or the move to Atlanta. They've been there for 40 years or so now.
It's like claiming Gary Payton is the best OKC Thunder player.
You are being idiotic.
I guess some of the Lakers championships shouldn't count since they won some of them in Minnesota.
