Default I could see the Warriors and Lakers collaborating this summer

Step 1: Lakers win the lottery and get their franchise player in Ben Simmons.

Step 2: Lakers replace Byron Scott with Luke Walton.

Step 3: Durant agrees to sign with the Warriors during the Moratorium.

Step 4: Whiteside agrees to sign with the Lakers during the Moratorium.

Step 5: The Lakers will have about 63 million in cap space this summer. The dubs can dump Bogut and Iggy(expiring contracts. both combined will cost about 22 million) in order to clear cap room for Durant.

Step 6: The Warriors facilitate a sign and trade of Harrison Barnes to the Lakers in exchange for a cheap role players like Larry Nance Jr. and Brandon Bass.

    Warriors:

    Curry/Livingston
    Klay/Barbosa
    Durant/Rush
    Draygod/Looney/Nance Jr
    Ezeli/Varejao/Bass

    Lakers:

    Russell/Lou
    Iggy/Clarkson
    Barnes/Swaggy P
    Simmons/Randle
    Whiteside/Bogut

Warriors aren't trading with the Lakers.

Lakers may get Walton though unless Phil hires him first.

Pretty sure the Warriors don't need to lose Iggy/Bogut/Barnes to make room for Durant, or any max FA that'll sign for 30% of the cap. Iggy/Bogut/Livingston is actually enough for it to work. They can keep Barnes/Ezeli.

What's Walton going to do with that sh1t roster besides ruin his reputation. Lakers are just going to draft another bust this year like they always do.

Could also see Kerr retiring with the health stuff and Walton taking over.

I don't think Walton would mind $25M guaranteed on his next coaching contract tbh...

What and get the blame every night and have your name thrown under the bus? Yeah right I'd take the same amount of money another team offers and try to win. These people are all millionaires anyway with good lifestyles they are in it for the competition not to go home feeling like sh1t and having their names dragged through the mud. That's why the lakers haven't been able to recruit any good coaches or players in recent few yrs since dwight Howard fiasco

They can keep Barnes and Ezeli. However, I have read that teams are willing to overspend on Barnes to the tune of 20 million per season. The dubs have his bird rights and his cap hold isn't that big so it is possible but not pragmatic. 20 million for Barnes to come off the bench? 20 million for your 5th best player? Then in 2017 Curry will get the max so the luxury tax bill will be crippling.

The ideal scenario would be a double sign and trade involving Durant and Barnes. Thunder might do it if they are going to lose Durant without any compensation, but Barnes would have to agree. The dubs could pretty much keep everyone in that scenario.

That Laker team wouldn't be that bad. 40 wins is possible. Simmons, Russell, Clarkson, Randle, Barnes, and Whiteside are all young. Iggy and Bogut will provide veteran leadership and Luke can lean on them.
