how can you even have a degenerative quad issue?

thats a muscle... muscles heal. Joints are a different story once the cartilage is gone its a persistent downhill, but muscles have blood flow and are capable of regeneration. Cartilage isnt.

Tendon attaches muscle to bone and receives poor blood supply. Thus, the quad issue.

wait, he's still using the phantom quad injury excuse, the same one that drove Spurs fans to unimaginable depths of disappointment thinking he'd return?

    Lakers dodged a huge bullet

Meanwhile, truth is he's got a chronic injury so they're going to rest him to squeeze as many playoff games outta Kawhi they can before he breaks.

He's already a proven winner. The Clips have the most talented team in the league. It's about as a guaranteed a chip you can get in the NBA for them this year.

The biggest variable is Kawhi's health. The team knows they just have to get him there. Toronto proved that last year.
Clippers don't care about his market value. They're in it for the long haul with Kawhi. They can't hide a career ending injury and then just trade him to some team. That won't work.

If he really is hurt then that's fine for them to rest him.

Yes, kind of a weird situation though. It's why he signed a 2 year deal. You can be sure Kawhi's team wanted more than that. That's all the Clippers would do though.

If the Clippers decide out of necessity to move on because load management increases, it pigeonholes them and screws Kawhi. He's still gonna try and get a deal elsewhere.

All that being said, anybody/any exec that watched the finals last year and is watching him play this year realizes he's still hurt so it's like the league's worst secret.

This is partly why he bounced from the Spurs. When they hesitated to offer a supermax deal (because of the injury) he forced a trade. Toronto was wise and bit on it. He left to play in his preferred location with a whole lot of stipulations in his contract, but only at two years guaranteed.

There have been all kinds of rumors about special accommodations for Kawhi, you can bet load management and the franchise taking the heat for that is part of the deal.

I'm pretty sure that's the exact opposite of what happened

Pretty sure I remember many of you buying the media stating that the Spurs misdiagnosed Kawhi and were trying to force him to play too, but nevermind all that.

Nevermind that Pop created load management for Duncan and gave him DNP's: old, while resting Manu/Parker as frequently as they needed to the point the NBA was fining the franchise for doing it. They obviously hated their new franchise player that gave them a fresh ring.
