Default Is Irving Officially a Top 5 PG?

    1) Rose
    2) Rondo
    3) Paul
    4) Irving
    5) Williams

Parker, Nash, Westbrook, Lawson, Rubio on the outside looking in.

ONLY 19 and he's close to being a 50/40/90 player. The more clutch player in the league. Can defend, can breakdown a defense, can finish, can shoot. He's 4 now and potentially 1 by next season.

He's doing all of this on the least talented team of any of the top point guards. FACT.

Not yet. He's knocking on the door though.

    Paul/Rose/Rondo/Williams/Westbrook/Parker all better.

Could debate Nash and maybe even Lawson.

Big things coming for him though.

People are too scared to give a man his due early on. Probably rightfully so, but have some balls.

It took an entire season for people to start giving Blake his due even though his stats were ungodly good. Y'all jump on the bandwaggon soon enough and act like you been saying it all along.

Whatever. He's a been defender than Williams, Parker, Nash, Lawson, and Rubio. He's a better offensive player Rondo. He's a better point guard than Westbrook.

Rondo is exceptionally good at other areas, hence remaining above Irving. The other unamed point guards are ranked above him -- for now.

    What do you disagree with?

The league is brimming with great point guards right now. It is really pretty amazing. I think it is a little early to anoint him Top 5 when others have been doing it at a very high level for longer. However, with the way he has been playing in the clutch lately, you could make the argument and it isn't as outlandish as it may have been earlier in the season.

He's also completely outplayed Rondo and Nash this year, while going toe-to-toe in great matchups with Williams and Westbrook. He wasn't overwhelmed in any of those games and actually got the better of the elite PG in a couple of them. In fact, he hasn't been overwhelmed by any point guard all year. Even during off games, he can play right with other good/great PGs.

I wouldn't have a problem with putting him at 7 or 8 at this point, but it certainly isn't a distant 7 or 8. He is maybe just outside of the Top 5 and knocking on the door.

If he continues this level of play throughout the rest of the season and into next year, he will without a doubt be Top 5. It just hasn't been quite enough yet and he is still so young...

There isn't a single point guard I'd take over him right now, though, considering where the Cavs are in our rebuild and what lay ahead.

We really did hit the jackpot.

    Agreed 100%.

Kyrie is great. And because his age I'd rather him over basically every other PG besides the top 3, but right not there's still quite a few better than him.
